A "Humorous" category ?

Some folks can write about sex for paragraph after paragraph; these, I kinda envy.

Is there a category for the "Humorous" story ?

I don't mean the "famous persons" thing. Just strange humour; not even strict "comedy".

Don't worry about it HP. Get drunk, post your story in any genre and laugh your ass off. Now it's a humourous story, no matter where you post it.

I've got several posted, not all of which reside in the humor cat.

"Sveni the Viking Rock Star" - satire based on Scouries.
"You've Been Trolled" - satire on one-bomb-voting trolls.
"The Deadly Quicksand" - satire on brother/sister incest.
"Monogamy For Swingers" - satire on wife swapping, although the satire part doesn't appear till near the end.
"How to Ruin Your Life" and "How to Write a Song" - satires for the "How To" contest.
"Limewire Girl" is a sort-of satire, spoofing the back stage antics of rock stars and their groupies.
"The Browning of America" - semi-serious satire on virtual reality technology and the role of the private sector when government regulations are scrapped in favor of free market solutions.

Obviously, I need to write some more satires.

What's with this asking if something exists that can easily be checked. It's the same thing with the perpetual "How do I edit/delete" question. And on another board I constantly get asked if something can be found that can easily be found by Googling. Have we become a world of highchair sitters waiting for the spoon of pablum? Or is this just a conversation starter when nothing else comes to mind?

Did you notice on that other thread, the guy asking about ads, had his name registered in 2003? In theory this OP has been around for two years reading stories here. Humor/Satire stories appear on the New Stories page once in a while... I'm gonna go with conversation starter. I don't think I'll ever post anything to essays, straight fiction, or humor.

Handley; If you have a story in your mind or all ready to submit. Do it, you'll get your share of readers, some good, some not so good, but you will have submitted your thoughts. Humor and Satire don't get as many read and votes but they do have their following. Good luck to you.

I'm not sure I follow. There's still both a "How To" category and a "How To" contest, isn't there? Or do you mean they said it has to be a real How To for the contest? (That I believe, because I whipped up a tongue-in-cheek one for that contest a couple of years ago and then found that it wouldn't qualify).

How-To was replaced by Summer Lovin' this year in the contest schedule.

Mostly all of my stuff falls under that much neglected catagory of humor and satire. I really can't get into any other style.

I gave up trying satire there after the comments of "Why is this funny?" Satire doesn't have to be ha ha funny.

Yep, the satire part of that category title is pretty much ignored by the readership. ( with the exception of anti-LW author satires )

I have a few pieces that are intentionally a little on the humerous side that I posted in another appropriate category because they weren't complete knee-slappers.

You have to aim to make people wet themselves, or a story will do worse in the cat than they all already do ( with humor being subjective ).

Either that, or send out titty pics to anyone who comments and votes 5
