Are you an unapologetic socialist?

I was born and raised in socialism, it was good time.

Yep. I suppose from the American point of view I'm downright communist.
The "American point of view" varies widely.

Most of the Americans who blather on about "socialism," in the context of a debate on U.S. policy, have no clue as to what that word really means.

I don't favor government ownership of all the means of production, but certain industries, yeah, I'm socialist. Health Care for one. Medicare for all.

Hear, hear!

The idea that the market always works perfectly is just as stupid as the idea that industry should be centrally planned.

People who oppose the public option and single payer either work in a targeted industry or don't understand the abstract concept of "insurance" and "risk pool".

Admit it. The truth will set you free.

Snort. Well that depends upon your defintion. If you ask most people around here, just supporting Obama and universal health care means you're a Socialist. But yes, I suppose I am, by any definition. I'm not sure I'm ready to give Capitalism the boot, but I do think that it has run badly amuck.

Admittedly i would love to say that socialism would work wonderfully but until we can all work towards a common good instead of it being a me system then no socialism wouldn't work. It would be the same system we have now, the rich would continue to get richer and the poor would continue to stay poor or be poorer but the occasional person that now can pull their self up by the boot straps and make a fortune in the capitalistic society would not have that chance. The black markets that we have today would be nothing compared to the black markets that would happen if we were socialistic.

I have studied sociology as part of my degree and I have read more than one sociology book but I think the best book to describe socialism and the issues it can and will likely cause is Faith of the Fallen by Terry Goodkind.

In a perfect world it would be great, sadly we don't live in a perfect world.

yes i am.

"Bourgeois class domination is undoubtedly an historical necessity, but, so too, the rising of the working class against it. Capital is an historical necessity, but, so too, its grave digger, the socialist proletariat."
Rosa Luxemburg

"Jesus was the first socialist, the first to seek a better life for mankind."

Yes. It would be a scathing shame if more than 2 percent of us controlled 98 percent of the GDP.

I'm actually a capitalist.

The problem is that most Americans are Feudalists. I don't particularly relish being a peasant with credit.

Walmart, eh? Boring from within?

IRELAND is higher in the development index than we are.

I lived a stones throw from a 'hood where there were first generation Irish immigrants crowding in in the freaking early 90's.

Can we say a fast road down for unregulated feeding frenzy supply side bullshit?
