Any cure for U2? They are playing UVa's stadium two miles away at this moment and yet their music is rattling our windows. The Rolling Stones weren't this loud when they played here a couple of months ago. Does U2 have any tunes I should recognize and/or want to hear? They supposedly are traveling with a set that rises fifteen stories. The pics in the paper make the "claw" look pretty ugly.

I'd vastly prefer U2 over the Rolling Stones but I admit surprise that the decibels are higher. You must be near Old Lynchburg Road. Scott Stadium sure ain't what it used to be.

"Sunday Bloody Sunday"
"New Year's Day"
"MLK"
"Pride (In the Name of Love)"
"With or Without You"
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
"MLK"
"A Sort of Homecoming"

Old Lynchberg road is on the other side of the stadium from me.

It's going to be a nightmare getting away from the concert, I'm sure. We'll have to hunker down.

You should go if they're in town for another show. U2 is the group other major rock groups and stars clamor to see. Their shows are legendary for their excellence and innovation. Apparently, Bono's ego doesn't even get in the way.

Its a beautiful day!

My daughter and husband saw them in the meadowlands last Wednesday night. I babysat the Christ child while they attended. Nightmare getting out of the stadium. Made national news the next day.

The final song the band played at their wedding was, "It's a Beautiful Day." And, it was.

The concert will be over and you can go to sleep soon because it was a beautiful day, Pilot. Remember when you were young and your parents didn't like the music you listened, too?

That would be a first. :p

Not complaining about the music--not looking forward to replacing the windows.

Would complain about the ticket prices if I'd planned on going, however.

And no I don't remember my parents objecting to the music when I was young--because, as far as I can remember, they didn't.

(P.S., I peddled across a professional stage on a tricycle as Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar. If that didn't do my parents in, I don't know what would.)

The USSR found surface-to-air missiles effective. :p

Then, don't ya think old farts should let the young kids have their time of making their own memories, even though they might be deaf one day and won't be able to hear one another talk about the good olde days?

Oh, yes, they did. All parents complain about what their kids listen to. It's just that your father wasn't around much and how could he complain about listening to taps, revalry, and the Andrew sisters.

Jumping right to assumptions, are we?

Oh, for Christ's sake! Do you have insurance? I'm sure you do. Someone will pay for you windows to be replaced. Have they broken, yet? Probably not. Open them up, and enjoy the music. It's two hours of your entire old life. Chill out.

My father sang on the radio himself when he was young. (Can't use what he sang as an argument, though.)

(True he wasn't around much--but he paid for my singing lessons. Also true that I started in folk rather than Elvis, though. I did, however, play Conrad Birdie on stage, which mimicked Elvis. And the whole family latched right onto the Beatles. And when I was in a production of Hair, that was about as "out there" as you could get in those days--including near nudity.)

Again, you like to jump right to assumptions and sweeping generalizations, don't you? Feeling guilty about what you've complained to your kids over their music tastes? :D

Apparently you're the one who needs to chill. Don't have a heart attack and fall out of your wheelchair, dear. :D

Concert's over, by the way. Lots of shots of Bono and performing of "It's a Beautiful Day" on the late-night news.

See! Now, wasn't it a beautiful day? And, now......it's over. Good night, Pilot. I just love getting you going. Some day, Pilot, we are going to meet in person. I think I could give you a run for your money and I could make you LOL and get a picture to prove it.

I LOL quite a lot. Not wild about stereotyping, though. I think I probably leave you in the dust in terms of a strange, nontypical, wild, and wooly life.

I was in the area that afternoon when I heard a traffic advisory due to a concert there that night. I was wondering who was playing there, but neglected to find out.

Why would young kids spend good money to watch balding old fogeys like Bono and Jagger make fools of themselves?

Relax and enjoy....for sure.....open yer winders and let the love shine in......I'm too far away from the venue up here so I'll have to go to the concert......
One of the best times I ever had was not getting into a concert.....story for another day.......
