Double Standard in Congress? "You Lie!", "Die Quickly!"

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27769.html

"You Lie!" 'may' have been a spontaneous outburst...

"Die Quickly!" came with signs prepared...

You tell me...

I find it funny that they say he's 'unhinged'. Why? Because he spoke his mind?

Maybe undignified, but it seems like it's the only thing that works right now...other then walking out on UN meetings :D Sorry, have to brag ;)

Comparing the so-called health care 'crisis' with the slaughter of 6 million people is comparing the lightning bug to lightning. The man's an idiot.

'Whom the God's would destroy they first make mad'. H.W. Longfellow

Heh:rose: bragging is good, but, sighs, the UN walkout with Canada preceding the US, is old news now...and I really thought someone else would post a thread on this...held on to it for hours...ah, well....

:)

Good quote...and thank you for mentioning the Holocaust reference.

I tire of this at times...Democrats again today voted down to Republican Amendments to the Healthcare Bill that would stop funding for abortions and illegals...and...Iran says they will not discuss their Nuclear Policy at the meeting scheduled for tomorrow...I wonder why?

Not for a long time have I felt so helpless just sitting on the sidelines; my influence may have been small way back then...but...

ah well...rainy days often do this to me...

regards...\

Brace yourself for a lot more hysterical outbursts such as this now that the Social Engineers in Congress see their utopian vision slipping away. ;)

Why can't the Proles see what's best for them?

Everything with Canada tends to be old news. Seriously though it's typical that rather then addressing the issue they would try to discredit him. I say he's right and he will get high votes for speaking out on behalf of the people. JMHO.

True Story. Godwin's Law in effect. We have a crisis, but it's no holocaust.

We need to end Gerrymandered districts. It's letting idiots get in on both sides of the aisle.

However, there is a huge difference between making stupid remarks when you have the floor and accusing someone of falsehoods by interruption. The first is just stupid, the second is stupid and classless.

Makes one wonder if these two incidents are harbingers of things to come as several pieces of truly law changing, life changing legislation is nearing the voting stage.

I suppose it does indeed reflect the deep divisions apparent even here on the forum and the passion and vitriol expressed here from time to time.

Strange times we live in, strange indeed.

Let's see.

"Pulling the plug on grandma."
"Death panels."
"Citizens running the risk of being put to death by the government."

Direct quotes by Republican congresspeople and senators in town halls and on the legislative floor. And that was just from the top of my head. Imagine what I can do with five minutes and Google.

So when one Democrat snaps and responds with the same admittedly idiotic rethoric, amicus all of a sudden gets his knickers in a bunch and starts talking about double standard.

He needs a mirror.

Nice that our political machinations entertain you, Liar and I suppose one could google up enough on both sides of the aisle to just about equal things out, although Pelosi and Reid have uttered a slew of derogatory remarks unworthy of their positions.

The 'double standard' I referred to, was the quick apology by the Republican and the refusal to apologize by the Democrat, both of whom lowered the accepted standards of Congress...guess that went over your head.

But when a member of Congress declares equality between t he Holocaust and our lack of socialized medicine, he is sorely misguided, boorish and rude to boot.

Well I guess. I didn't consider the apology aspect of it specifically. More the being-an-ass aspect in general.

But even then... you point to one Dem who was an ass and didn't apologize, and one Rep who was an ass, and did, and try to draw conclusions.

None of the asses I quoted apologized either. I guess that doesn't matter to you since it doesn't fit your thesis.

So my conclusion still stands: You're picking and choosing to make a point about the respective political camps that just isn't there.

The only conclusion to be made is that Alan Grayson is a bit of an ass. Not in relation to anything. Just on his own merits.

In terms of opinion makers, of course one picks and chooses, 'cherry picks' to support one's contentions. You do precisely the same. I would not expect you, or anyone, to select items that weakened their own position.

Your position is clear by your actions, only muddled by your continued denial that you are advocating an specific POV.

My choices of what subject or issue to offer commentary on is consistent and has always been; yours waffles back and forth on what appears to be a whim, indicating to me, and all who read, a lack of a consistent set of fundamental premises.

You're drawing a false equivalency. Wilson interrupted a Presidential address to both houses of Congress, an unprecedented act of rudeness. Grayson had the floor, and legislators have used these sort of "big signs on an easel" presentations to say outrageous things to get themselves on the evening news as long as I can remember.

Moreover, Wilson was factually wrong; Obama was not lying. Grayson also did not accuse any one Republican of lies - his presentation was satirical of the entire Party. And, given the way the Right has mis-characterized Democratic healthcare plans, Grayson's portrayal was essentially accurate in comparison.

Ah, Huck, how you do go on....Death Panels...a term coined for former Governor Palin, I have read, simply refers to similar means of deciding who gets treatment in existing government medical plans in England and Canada. There are committees who make a 'cost/benefit' pardigm or matrix to allocate scarce resources.

You defend the Democrat, I defend the Republican. The issue over whether abortion and illegal aliens are included in the health care plan is a matter of semantics only, both will be covered then and now and you know that.

To compare the lack of Soviet style medicine in the US to the Holocaust, is demagoguery of the worst kind, and you know that too.

To insinuate that the plan of the opposition is, "Die Quickly", is obscene and everyone but you seems to know that, but it is par for the course in left wing liberal politics....you know, the same ones defending the rapist of a 13 year old child; fits you like a glove.
