A fellow poster from Pakistan is having a birthday soon. I would like to send him a gift certificate, preferrably anonymously, but the McDonalds web site only sells them in dollars. It wouldn't be my first choice, but he really likes McDonalds except it's too expensive for his budget.

I realize that this is a long shot, but does anyone know how to buy a Pakistani McDonalds gift certificate? Does such a thing even exist?

Thanks in advance!

Many places/countries do not have the concept of gift certificates. I don't know about Pakistan, but I know in Eastern Europe (and parts of Central Europe) don't have gift certificates, just to give an example. That being said, you can contact the various franchises (click me for the list of email addresses) to ask.

I found this and this site where apparently you can send fast-food gifts to deliverable cities. I didn't look at it in much detail, but it looks relatively legit. You might want to look into that.

Good luck.

Wow. Great finds. Thank you so much for these links. I guess I didn't google the right phrase!

Another suggestion

You might try contacting McD's corp. They may be able to help you out.

I'll also ask a Paki friend of mine when I see him next and get back to you.

Gift "cards" are big in the U.S. They spread from business to business like the swine flu. Everyone has to jump on the band wagon. Most people don't realize the real reason every company in the U.S. is so obsessed in selling them - there is a big enough rate of no return that it is literally a million dollar business. Business can sell tons of cards and then save millions of dollars when they are not redeemed. They get the money from the cards but don't have to give up the merchandise or the service. I guess other countries haven't figured that out yet. Most companies try burying the fact so that it is not well known.

Send money ----> But i'm not comfortable with that ----> Become comfortable ---> Send money.

Plus a card or a note and little pictures or whatever. Copy a picture of a hamburger.

I appreciate the suggestion. Finding an exchange or bank to convert the currency can be a hassle in some places. If there's a flat fee for the conversion, that is a huge percentage of such a small transaction. It seems much easier to buy online and let the merchant/card company deal with the conversion.

Thanks
