Censorship! Obama Places 'Gag Order' on Humana Insurance Company!

Scary stuff all around. Just announced today, Democrats defeated a Republican initiative to begin drilling for oil off the East Coast.

That may seem unrelated, but the far left have the dreams of socialized medicine and alternative energy and it appears they will stop at nothing to attempt to pass that legislation.

Jenny gitcher gun, girl...ah, that was Annie...sorry...

China and India are fixin' to drill for oil off the Cuban coast and yet we can't drill off our coasts because of the Bird and Bunny nuts?

Oh, I forgot, another Dem voting bloc heard from. ;)

Well, Obama thought he had it all. The "only candidate who can work on both sides of the aisle" was fine as long as he had his clear majority in both houses. But with the dems abandoning him over Health Care Reform, Obama may have to break down and actually talk to Republicans.

The thought that Obama has sunk so far as to gag his detractors sounds more like the old Soviet Union than the U.S.

I'm surprised I haven't gotten one of the circular, since I am on Medicare, although my companion plan is not Humana. As far as I'm concerned, even ifh they are lying like rugs, and I don't know if they are or not, they have a Constitutional right to send the mailings out.

It's really laughable to hear or see politicians chiding people for lying.

Actually, it sounds more like Liberals who believe that everybody should have the freedom to agree with them.

That make a lot of sense to anyone?

Sen Baucus was behind the gag order, guess his ego can't handle someone telling the truth about "his" bill.

I read that article. It doesn't say they're not allowed to talk. It says they're not allowed to lie. The issue is over "blatantly false statements". Does anyone on this thread have a dictionary where they can look up the word disingenuous?

Myself, I wish that the Obama Administration would just flat out attack all these liars who are disparaging his healthcare reform plan. Just come out and rip their fucking asses. It is fine to dissent, but it should be based on truth and not some lobbyist lie from the insurance companies and political lies from the people who fear the results of his success if this passes. While it is not really right to wish ill on someone I do wish that anyone who supports these insurance companies would end up on the wrong end of their "services". I've been there, like millions of others. If you haven't it's not because you're better or smarter or have a better insurance program. It's because you've been fortunate enough not to have been the burden they decided to shuffle off to your own devices. After you've paid years of premiums. Insurance companies run roughshod on everyone because they can. The Obama Plan will force them to compete fairly. There is no fair and ethical business model in the insurance industry right now. They have to be forced to do the right thing because they refuse to do it on their own.

My uncle used to work for a large insurance company in New York. He quit after several years of service because he couldn't bring himself to do their EVIL bidding any longer. The case that broke it for him was from a man who had a very treatable disease, but it was extremely expensive and the company didn't want to pay for it. They assigned my uncle the job of loading up so much red tape that the guy would succumb to his disease long before he could get any treatment. It was a direct order, to make sure this guy died before they had to pay off. It wasn't even worded delicately. My uncle's boss told him, "I want to see this guy in the ground before I ever see a check going out of this office." The guy paid premiums for almost thirty years and that is what they did. And that is what they do. All the time. This stuff happens every fucking day. My uncle quit and they assigned another guy to this case and the guy died.

To anyone who supports the insurance companies in this, I openly wish that someone you love becomes the victim of men like the one my uncle used to be. For some it's the only way to see this argument for what it really is. It's not about fucking the doctors for their hard work. As soon as someone says that their argument is moot because they don't know what the fuck they are talking about. "Doctor" is a trigger word like "troops". How you can support Obama's healthcare? Don't you think doctors deserve to make a living? Total bullshit argument. Doctor's will be fine. The only ones on the chopping block will be the insurance companies who insist on acting in less than ethical, and outright EVIL, ways. Middle men who absolutely don't need to be involved in the first place. They will either learn to compete in a fair and ethical manner or they will disappear.

Argue. Dissent. Slam your fist on the table. But do it for the right reasons. Stop arguing The Lie. Stop taking every little semi-related thing and spinning it into the utter bullshit that started this thread. Humana is not allowed to lie in order to defeat the Obama Plan and they were told to stop or lose their benefits of dealing with Medicare. I don't see a problem. It would be like working for McDonald's and telling everyone at the counter that they really should go to Burger King. McDonald's is going to rightfully step up and tell you that you can't do that or you're fired. Same thing here. The main point being, Humana is only trying to save their own asses. They don't care about the people. They are a vestigial organ lying to beat hell trying to prove that they still have some value to the host body. And they don't. All they can do is cause damage when they get inflamed.

They are not allowed to tell the consequences of this idiotic bill. Medicare Advantage will be cut severly, no question about it. This will affect health care for millions of senior citizens. This is an obvious 1st amendment violation and is unenforceable.

The details must come out soon. Virtually every expert repudiates the deceit Baucus and Obama and Biden assert. Some experts claim that ObamaCare is a 35% hike in Federal Taxes for most people.

The reality is, the government is broke and few will lend it more money. Very soon government revenues will barely cover the costs of Medicare, Medicaid, MexiCare, and interest on the national debt. There will be NO money for anything else. As I write, the Treasury is trying to borrow back the bailout money it gave the banks & Wall Street.

No, they are blatantly lying about the bill. The consequences of the bill is that they may likely cease to exist as the parasitic entity that they are. If they do exist they won't be able to freely rape money out of citizens and the system. They will merely be forced to act ethically. If they can't survive while acting ethically then they shouldn't survive. And NO ONE should want them to.

Did you hear? Barney Frank is calling for an investigation of ACORN and the crew who ratted them out. That's it, Barney. Lynch the whistle blower.

(and by the way. How's your ethics case going?)

With over 550 pending amendments no one has a clue what form ObamaCare will take, BUT almost all of the amendments are Democrat pork that could inflate the cost of ObamaCare beyond redemption. As of right now the bill is shaping up to be a major raid on your wallet.

Watched a couple hours of CSPAN last night, the debate and then vote over Medicare Advantage, how doctors and hospitals are paid, the number of seniors covered in rural areas and where the problems lie.

Boota, you have brown eyes cuz ur full of shit up to your eyeballs. It is not the insurance companies at all, it is the government that reduces the amount paid medical workers and medical equipment that is forcing doctors to decline taking medicare cases because the pay is so much lower that private insurance companies.

In some locals only 17 % of doctors will take on new medicare patients, and nearly half of all doctors in the US have indicated they will stop practicing medicine if the Obama plan is approved.

You are mouthing the party line, being a shill for those who want total socialized medicine. The facts are there for you, all you have to do is look and read.

No, it's worse than that - and I voted for him.

The tectonic plate shift that is needed to reform health care can't be done with politico cabals on the Hill in a few months.

Where's the research/groundwork to determine a system that works.

From what I've seen abroad, a discrete split of responsibility between non-profit insurer, non-profit hospital and government subsidy works pretty well.

Stifling debate is censorship.

They intend to pay for it with money they will save by stamping out waste and corruption in the current system. I have a better idea. Get the money from the Easter Bunny. One is about as likely as the other.

The Congressional Budget Office has said there will not be enough money. They are non-partisan, and know of what they speak. :(

Which senator was that? They are both liberal and both from the SF Bay Area, and I am inclined to agree with them on this one.

The Peripheral Canal idea has been around for a long time, and the idea has been voted down by Californians several times. The idea of it is that Los Angeles wants more water to fill their swimming pools and water their golf courses. The Central Valley farmers would benefit too, but the driving force behind the idea is the city of Los Angeles.

ETA: It would also cost a ton of taxpayer money.

The idea is to dig a canal from the foothills south, drawing off water from some large rivers before it has a chance to enter the Sacramento Delta and the bay. This would destroy the shipping and fishing industries in the bay and be a general ecological disaster.

If you want to see how ruthless the city of L. A. is whenb it comes to grabbing water from everywhere they can, look at the Owens Valley.

If there's THAT much waste and abuse with Medicare, Medicaid, MexiCare DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOW!

The big joke here is: geezers get up in the morning, go to McDonalds for their Senior Coffee, go by the bank to see how much interest they earned on their CDs overnight, go to the MD just in case, then sit at the mall all afternoon to soak up the free air conditioning and wait for the early bird specials.

Not all of us. I rarely go to McDonald's; I have no CD's and avoid going to the Mall if I can. I have AC at home. Mostly, I stay there writing dirty stories and posting on this forum.

Box, you share only a small side issue to the San Joaquin Valley. The water formerly used to irrigate fertile farm land is being allowed to flow down the Sacramento River to the ocean to sustain the migration of Salmon.

There is a three year drought in that area of California and water supplies are indeed a vexing problem for all. The crux of the matter is, that to preserve the two inch smelt from going extinct, environmentalists and California Politicians chose to sustain the fish and not the people.

There are priorities after all, humane priorities, and those place human existence and sustenance at the top of the ladder.

Everything changes. The natural fish runs of the wilderness are indeed changed by the expansion of human settlements and activities. It is a simple choice, humans over wildlife, that any rational person would make instantaneously.

You may have no concern for the 38 million human inhabitants of California and the Meglaplex that is the Los Angeles Basin, but that population is valuable also and not to be dismissed for some environmentalist's pristine vision of an untouched wilderness.

That is just plain silliness and something that cannot be afforded.

This month, Governor Schwarzenegger asked the President's cabinet to rethink the federal policies that divert water from California's drought-stricken farms to save threatened fish.

The Governor argued that saving fish would worsen the existing water crisis, costing farmers more than $700 million and caused mandatory water rationing in many cities.

But federal agencies say leave more water in the rivers to protect the fish, and the governor has said there is not enough left over to 38 million Californians.

There has been talk about bringing water from reserves below the Cascade mountain range, but that would require building dams, again creating fish issues. Oi! Now I'm hungry for a nice smoked smelt!
