So, Joe got slapped on the wrist by the House, big deal.

I heard, but did not search to document, that appropriate behavior in a Joint Session of Congress, is to remain silent during the President’s presentation.

That being the case, was it improper behavior for the Democrats to stand and applaud during the speech while the opposition Republicans sat on their hands?

So, Joe, and Joe Sixpack, the next time Obama lies in your presence, wherever it may be, simply stand and turn your back. That should be entirely appropriate, not a word spoken and a point well made.

(I always stand and face West five times a day just to show my disgust with DC.)

(Damn that Amicus is good!)

;)

Of all the fucking stupid things. Yeah, instead of being rude one way, choose another...

How about actually being civil and polite and realizing that having different political priorities doesn't mean you have to act like a fucking dick?

What would be so hard about that? Aren't we adults, supposedly?

*stands and applauds this post*

Calling out "You lie" crossed the line. Still, I wonder: If applauding is proper, and I have no doubt that it is, what about booing. They are both expressions of opinion and, if one is proper, the other should be also.

All that happened is create a precedent for Republicans to go after Democrats in the future. And they will.

Worse, the nation is polarizing as it did prior to our Civil War. Someone like John Brown will come along, shootup a Baptist church, and Hell will erupt.

Regardless of who you blame for the current uproar, it has just become worse as former President Jimmy Carter said..."opposition to Obama is racist in nature as Americans don't think a black man is capable of being President" That is a paraphrase, but accurate...

JBJ gets it, even if the rest don't. This is a watershed event that has been building a long, long time.

The country is as divided as it was prior to the Civil War and the polar differences are so great that rhetoric will not suffice to resolve any of it.

Polls indicate that a majority of Americans have no trust in Congress and this is an ongoing sample of opinions.

For those of you entrenched in the far left, your anger that many, if not a majority of Americans, want no part of your agenda of abortion, gay rights, socialized medicine and mandatory public service, show just how out of step you are with all things American.

sad.

There's an old saying in the military, 'If you don't respect the man, respect the uniform'.

Wilson was out of line in regards to current Congressional decorum, however calling out, jeering and making a pest of yourself is a long standing activity in parliaments all over the world. In our own legislative branches, fights have broken out and those making speeches (including POTUS's) have been hissed and booed.

Fussing over this incident is providing a smokescreen for Health Care shenanigans too. ;)

Good point...there is still no final version of HR3200 that one might legitimately criticize, but the House took time for this farce.

Just had an idea for a new thread concerning Fox news and how they and they alone are driving the investigation into ACORN, which gets worse every day with yet another episode scheduled for release tomorrow on Hannity.

What ever happened to ABC, CBS & NBC? This is another bombshell while the, "You Lie" thing, will soon be old news....

The networks are the Big O's bitches. ;) Ditto Congress. If this scandal was about the RNC, NRA, Heritage Foundation, American Legion or any other 'right wing' organization it'd be 24/7 coverage.

Mainstream media bias is so flagrant it's actually funny and that's why they're losing viewers. At least Fox makes an attempt to portray both sides of an issue. Hell, even Jon Stewart lays about on both sides with his cudgel and he's the most trusted anchorman in America. :D

Some one already suggested that...it didn't sit well, smelly feets...:D

Someone will do something outrageous and the nation will fracture as it did before. This time will be worse because it wont be sectional.

Of course no one slapped the hands of the Dems that booed Bush during a State of the Union speech.

Pelosi runs the House of Hypocrisy.

After reading the news accounts, it's clear that the vote to slap Joe on the wrist (meaningless by the way) was voted strictly along party lines. What a bunch of bullshit!

So Joe Wilson is crying after his campaign chest reache $1.2 millions yesterday? Slap all you want, Dems. All you've done is get Joe Wilson Re-elected. ROFL.

JJ

But it increases the acrimony a notch. It was another waste of good time and taxpayer money for nuthin much.

No James, what we got was a clear picture of all the boobs and liars in Congress. And with the midterm elections coming...

This town is filled with retired autoworkers. Years ago, when we put up picket lines, you could count of the retired autoworkers crossing the lines. So they can all go to hell.

Sometimes one doesn't notice the absence of a former irritant until it is long gone...the deafening silence of the Usual Suspects with no Bush to Bash, is pleasant for a change. They certainly will not defend the actions, directions and policies of their annointed leader.

or, on the other hand, it could be that so many people have place you and some of your compatriots on ignore and simply don't see these threads... just sayin'

Yep.

And speaking of irritants, do you not notice how many political threads you start every single day? For heaven's sake, ami. No person who has a real life away from their computer could keep up with your constant whining.
