Tax the sick.

If we use taxes to discourage behavior we don't like, then when you get sick you pay a tax. Don't want to pay it? Don't get sick. I propose one hundred dollars a day each day you're too sick to go to work or school. The money goes into the general fund.

Now you have an incentive to stay healthy, and it won't cost you a penny and won't involve any government interference.

Under this system, the rich can afford to be sick all they want, so who cares?

I know what you're thinking. "But, people can't help it if they get sick!" Bullshit - all we've been hearing is that people choose to eat crappy food, get fat, and burden the system. Personal choice would take care of a large amount of illness in this country.

From another perspective, people can't help inheriting money either, but we tax the crap out of that. And when you run a successful business you generally can't help getting wealthy from it, and we tax the shit out of that.

So don't give me your sob stories about how it's wrong to tax the sick. If you can prove your illness is genetic or otherwise totally beyond your control, I might consider at least a partial tax-exempt status. But then I'd be accused of subsidizing certain diseases, so to hell with it; tax 'em all.

I have a solution - go to the hospital and fix your bad genes in advance. Never get seriously sick. Simple as that.
Of course, to this moment nobody knows how to do that. Maybe soon we'll know.

And if you consider all genes other than blond, blue eyed Ayran phenotypes to be "bad" then what does that make you?

That's what we do now.

As an anti-tax activist within the Libertarian Party I am really outraged by this.

However, since the sick are weak and easy to exploit if there must be taxes they are a reasonable target demographic.

It makes you an idiot, I guess. And I don't think you can fix that.

I read a while ago in a journal that there's already a test where one can check their genes and be told in advance what kind of disease most likely will occure during their life, cancers and all...The test costs more than $100K and is available only to the extremely rich ones but the inventors hope the price will fall down as the technology developes. Now they only have to find a way how to fix the bad genes once they discover them.

If that's not creative thinking, I dunno, what is.
