Are women more sensitive?

I cannot speak for all men and all women -- but it will say that I am thick skinned, both literally and figuratively, to an extent that exasperates my spouse. I think that the term "insensitive" may have been used at times to describe me.

What is strange is that I don't think is too evident in my writing. If you look at R Richard's stuff, you can see this very masculine, in your face attitude -- very much like my son. My daughter is one of those wimpy super liberals who had save the whale posters in her bedroom growing up.

I hate generalizations but what I've... generally  observed is that men are not less sensitive than women. Many men seem to have more trouble processing and dealing with their emotions and so they try to wall them off. This might be biological or it might be socialization. However, you simply can't apply generalizations to everyone. One of my brothers expresses his emotions very well, another does okay at it and the third seems utterly terrified of feeling strong emotions. *shrug*

Understood, it is an individual thing. However, I believe that, generally speaking, women are more sensitive than men. I don't know why; maybe it's because girls receive more personal compliments than boys. Little girls are pretty and have pretty faces and pretty hair and wear pretty clothing. Little boys don't do any of those things. Personally, when I was a little boy, if somebody had said I was wearing a pretty shirt, I probably would have gone and smeared mud on it or something. I didn't like to be told things like that.

Sure I can. :D

Men are generally scum sucking pigs. :caning:

Women, on the other hand, are beautiful, kind, loving and general all around goddesses. :rose: :rose: :rose:

(That is, of course, unless you are some kind of woman hating asshat = Hi SR!)

I think I'll let that comment slide. Seems to be a bit of distaste that begs for the loving touch of a woman to answer to. At least one that likes men still, lol:rolleyes:

You can just pretend you didn't see that. Safe_bet left in a huff a couple of weeks ago because everyone laughed at her male bashing and attempts to control everyone else. She's just being her sweet self.

We can live without the egregrious bashing, my love, we surely can. :(

Apparently not.

It was pretty calm around here for a couple of weeks. And even the "oh my, all of the wonderful former AHers have left" fears went into reverse. Interesting that.

Jesus, Mary and mother fucking Joe... You three assholes REALLY need to get a sense of humor.

lance gt: Did you see the :D? That means I'm laughing. Get a grip, dude. ;)

sr71plt: If it were up to me I'd tell your wife that she had it backwards. She should have left the cat alive...

Stella_Omega: Yeah. Fine. What the fuck ever.

I wish you wouldn't make fun.

Many people have been deeply wounded by the atmosphere around here, myself included.

I no longer have anyone on ignore, but I sure as hell don't play much around here anymore.

Looks like I picked a good couple of months to make myself scarce, huh?

I'm not making fun. It's a fact that old posters have been coming out of the woodwork and posting here in the last week. They must feel comfortable to do so--under current conditions.

And I've seen no blowup threads. There could be some under Ami's name, but I've got those on ignore--and if others are going ballistic on those threads, it's because they want to.

And, surprise, most of the posters we've all railed against haven't been here in weeks either. A coincidence? I don't think so. Nastiness begets nastiness.

You've seen no blowup threads because anyone who really feels strongly about the wrongness of the right for instance-- has left.

You've got a bunch of reds happily agreeing with each other.

I can post here for a day or three-- but the fuckwad-ery piles up real fast, and I'm past my limit, and I already know how that will end, so I'm gone once more.

Enjoy!

Yes, I've seen one thread like that. As long as they are talking among themselves and using up all their own time/energy on emptyness like that, who cares? I just don't do more than scan it when I'm in the mood to look into the sandbox and then just walk away--which is the same thing you and anyone else could do.

This was/is your basic problem, Stella. You can't just let them rail and rant in their corner--you have to control what they--what we all--can post.

It's been a much calmer place here across the board without a self-appointed schoolmarm.

Sr71plt, you always seem to want to have the last word.

Stella and SB say daft things sometimes but why shouldn't they. It's perfectly possible to disagree with Stella or SB without ramming it down their throats and for that matter every body elses. It never seems to occur to you that frequently the best way of combating an argument is to ignore it and leave it with its flaws exposed for all to see.

Vociferous nagging opposition tends to legitimize the original contention no matter how daft it is. Amicus is the best example. Any sane person can deduce in no time at all that his posts are repetitious, tub thumping drivel but they gain a degree of legitimacy precisely because people like yourself argue with him rather than ignore it for the pretentious crap it is.

I shall now follow my own policy and ignore any reply you may choose to make.:D

Wise words.

I especially like the tub-thumping drivel. :D

Yep.

See you in Chicago next Litogether, though?

Absotively. :rose: We can't be having friends getting married every third weekend in March, can we? So far, the calendar is crystal clear.

My disappearance had nothing to do with the AH itself, and more to do with not being able to get my story past mods, no matter how impeccably chaste I made the supposedly offending scenes. I through a bit of a hissy-fit.

That and being a rather busy person.

I'm over it now.

Sorry if you took that as a slight, I just didn't want to say anything in response to such a negative comment and start anything. I just started to post here and enjoy the chatter. Didn't want to make enemies before I made friends:cool:

Yeah, the busy part - I get it completely.

The past three months have been both the worst and the best of times for our family.

STELLA and SAFE BET are LITs demented aunts locked in the attic.

Try QUARREL instead of ARGUMENT. You fuck up the language when you make it up as you go. Fill those empty brain cells with a larger vocabulary! If you understood what AMICUS posted you wouldnt resort to name-calling & discounting.

SR71PLT is okay.

Sarah I've noticed you were not around as much as usual. I thought maybe with school starting? I've been busy as well, and speaking of the last three months how's the Hub, and what th hell ever happened to the Mole's?

:rose:

Hubby is doing well, thank you. Residual effects - he gets exhausted very easily. And neither of us have any reserves - emotional or otherwise.

But the kids seem unscathed, and are settling into school well. Busy schedules all around.
