I don't really regard 70s and 80s porn as vintage, not least as that's what I grew up with.

Good vintage porn to me is Victorian stuff. So often there is a very prudish view of the Victorians, so I love the fact that, pretty much as soon as the camera was invented, someone thought "let's take some pictures of people fucking", and I love that only a few of us realise what a filthy bunch of hedonists they really were.

I think what we're mostly all agreed on here, in terms of what we enjoyed about much of the porn of the past, comes down to production values, basically. Much of the porn of the day featured pretty good casting, some decent writing which produced credible story lines, good sets and lighting and competent directors.

The latter was especially true in the 70s and into the 80s, when we saw some very competent women move behind the camera to produce a whole new perspective on adult films. These women not only had experience in the industry, but had a much better idea of what would appeal to the burgeoning female audience for quality erotic films (I saw a figure once that indicated that over 50% of the erotic films of the day were being bought or rented by women). It became quite common to see women alone, or couples, perusing the naughty movie shelves in video shops and in the ABS, often while holding toys they were about to purchase as well.
Sadly, with the passing of the beta/VHS era, and the shift to the cheap and dirty online market, the economics of that shift effectively killed off quality productions.

So yes, I know if they were to bring back erotic films (as opposed to what we now regard as porn) with real talent on both sides of the camera, I and many of the women I know would be right there once again. And no, I'd rather see modern methods and equipment used, since that would further improve the overall quality of the product.

But for me now, I've been happy to see women and men getting out of the bush leagues, so to speak, both in movies and real life. I guess I take a more Georgia O'Keeffe view of female anatomy. I want to see it in all its beauty and intricacy, and up close and personal; as closely as possible. And yes, before you ask, I do manscape, too. Whatever you may feel about the overall vision, hair does get in the way, particularly when you're sliding your lips over hers ... and then there's the problem of living dental floss, right? And count me in with those who are actually put off by balloon-like boobs. I'd way druther have 'em on the natch any time. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary.
