I've had better results from self massage as opposed to a partner. Very, very slow, somewhat firm pressure has resulted in some quite intense sensations. It's not something that happens almost immediately. Like nipple stim, it takes time to develop, but once it gets going ... wow!

I believe this area varies quite a bit in guys.

For many guys, you might as well be rubbing their arm (minus the incidental contact with the surface nerves of the anus, perhaps). Personally, I get far more sensations from my lips than anything in that area (which could explain my oral fixation--that or just that women taste/feel so magnificent). Well, this is why I stipulated gentlemen.
