Lately I've sampled the hot STORIES, and so far none of them are HOT. The ones marked 'E' are pretty good, so I decided not to fool with any story that isnt marked 'E.'

That's not very nice Jim. I don't have any E's but lots and lots of H's. My H's are pretty good if I say so myself. LOL

Es and Hs are subjective. I too gave up on H rated stories in favor of E rated ones, even though many E rated stories never get an H. I see Hs as being successful with the lowest common denominator, while Es could indicate a level of excellence that may not be appreciated the the lowest common denominator. See? Subjective.

I wasnt referring to you.
I sampled several Hs and none of them were good, but all of the Es I sampled were very good. There are plenty of literary masterpieces I dont like.

You write a story that moves people who like it to vote on it and doesn't incite the trolls to vote on it.
The 'H' stands for "Hot" and is a dynamic indicator that changes with the score; many stories have an H at ten votes and lose it essentially forever with the eleventh vote.'E' stand for Editor's choice. To get it, you have to write a story that impresses someone who reads fifty to a hundred Lit stories every day. My alter ego has three stories with no Hs and two Es. I'm satisfied with that.

It all depends on the category too! A good Sci-fi story garners good votes and H's. Well written Romance stories will also quite possibly get you an H. Loving Wives will get you trolls, although I posted a couple of chapters of a story in LW once and it had an H for a long time, until I pulled it.
