It looks a bit like a drip - paint, powder, water - photographed at the moment of impact.

Then again, it looks like some kind of deadly virus seen through a microscope.

I would guess a crater with either sand dunes or salt beds in the center. Maybe one of the underground nuclear test craters that dot the deserts of Nevada since it looks fresh (for a crater). Although I see no evidence of plant life so perhaps it is extraterrestrial.

Do you know? Will we ever get resolution on this? It's going to drive me nuts!

In truth this is a secret design for a new atomic attack corvette that the US Navy is playing around with. They gently float it down from the arctic circle and everyone believes it's an iceberg.
