Greetings all,

Its been sometime since I was on her last. Real life, a divorce and the economy have taken their toll.

Still, I enjoyed this place and the people Ive met, so Im back. Whether you like it or not (and I lost 80 lbs to boot).

I too have thought about you and wondered if you'd return.

Sorry about the divorce, though I think from things you previously posted that you'll be better off (maybe not financially, but emotionally, at least). And sorry about the real life/economy thing, too... for all of us. Congratulations on the 80 pounds, too!

You're remembered; you have been missed.

Welcome back, Brad!

Yes! I was wondering the other day where you were! Welcome back.:rose:

Hey its great to see you back.....we were only talking about you the other week in the blurt thread :)

Congrats on the weight loss too

Thanks all. Im certainly not the same person either. Some of the wounds are still healing and Im a full time Dad, non-stop it seems.

It seems mostly ladies are posting in here, so I'll just say losing 80 pounds is quite a good thing. Congrats.

OK, ladies...he's all yours.

Meh, I think 80 lbs was about how much my soul weighed.
So if you were to lose your soul now, you'd probably lose another 80 lbs or so?

Seriously, dood. I know it hurts. I know it's not easy. But I also know, from past post upon past post, that you're a good dad, and a good man. Pain on the scale you're experiencing *is* relatively transitory in almost all cases; sometimes it just takes a while longer for it to de-escalate from the forefront of our thoughts and emotions to a more manageable thing, one facet of our lives. Will it ever stop hurting? I don't know. Will it ever become manageable, and not the first thing thought of in the morning, and the last thing at night? Most likely. That depends on your determination to remain the man and dad that you are, because you can't let the pain run your life without losing those parts of yourself. *I* think you'll work it through and re-center yourself to your real role: Dad, man, role model.

Oh yeah, theres no doubt about that. In fact the weight loss spurrned on an excercis plan, so now my body is toning in a way that Ive never seen before. Working occasionally on a tall ship doesnt hurt.

Speaking of kids, we're heading out the door to a frrebie summer movie. Two hours with Alvin and the Chipmunks, ugh.

Hey, welcome back. Sorry about the bad news, but delighted to hear about the 80lb and the exercise plan. ;)

:D Crikey?!?! Are you a closet Aussie, Homburg?

Why, no, but I do have a love for that word, and do a passable imitation of a generic Aussie accent.

And, as you might have noticed, I tend to use British spellings here and there. It was a habit I picked many, many years ago when I was just starting out on message boards. I was frequenting a couple of largely Brit boards and got into the habit of spelling like the "natives". For whatever reason, it stuck. It can be interesting at times to write business letters, as I have to go back and change the occasional "s" to a "z".

No, he's got kids who used to watch the croc guy. Je aussi.

Hell, _I_ used to watch Steve Irwin. He was a brilliantly alive person, and a joy to watch. I was honestly very sad when I heard of his passing, as he was consistently and honestly a happy image, and I miss seeing him on TV.

Thanks again all,

Like Homburg, Ive started picking up traditional English spelling habits. As opposed to forums, mine are stemming from a bit too much historical research.

But it brings up a good point, I have picked up my own lexicon of English-Australian-New Zealand slang myself via internet interaction. Makes one wonder if a "generic" online English may be slowly developing.
