An incredible music video I just came upon through a friend. It's a little over 3 1/2 minutes, but it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The music is beautiful too.

I just thought of sharing it with everyone. :)

Her Morning Elegance / Oren Lavie

I'm liking the vid. It reminds me of a Michel Gondry one, for aphex twin I think where there's different scenery being timed out a train window that corresponds to all the sounds.

The song, I'm undecided. It's like Nick Cave and John Mayer having a bastard love child.

The beginning riff definitely sounds like John Mayer's song "Daughters." And although the singing does seem a bit familiar (for lack of a better word since it sounds so similar), the music itself I thought went really well with the video.

Thanks for actually taking the time to watch! :)

Brain Fart - that would be Nick Drake.

Definitely not Nick Cave.

I love music videos. I have no attention span for movies these days and good music videos are like short stories. I love picking them apart and getting all the film references that people pile in there.

Have you ever checked out the MTV director's series? I recommend netflixing all of the installaments.

No I haven't heard of it. I definitely will look it up.

What I used to love was the show "Pop Up Video," where it would just have a bunch of music videos and just pop up random facts about the band or that song, or the video, or the crew. It was so cool and the facts were really neat.

Cool video. I rather liked it, even if the song was not my speed. I loved the lighting, and how the tones set of the colours of the model. She looked particularly alive and lovely.

I so glad to see that correction. I was really trying to figure out if Nick Cave had gone in some weird direction since "Murder Ballads" or something.

"Red Right Hand" is just incredible stuff, and I'f been trying for years to glean the inspiration off that song that I know is there. It remains ineffable to me still.

For fun, check out Nick Drake. Serene sad music from English guy who offed himself way too soon. You'll see what I meant.

Yup.

And now that I posted someone who's never been filmed in a video thread, I'll drop this in here. Real "Twelve Monkeys /la jetee" kind of feel in certain parts.

Song isn't best or worst Bowie. Vid is by Romanek, of "Closer" and "Hurt" fame - the man does "clean" as well as dirty looking.

Hey, Dave, another vid the one you posted of reminded me of was this one - MUCH lower tech and older

It's really cool to see both directors using the Edward Muybridge motion study idea though, and people in stop motion style.

Wow! I really liked that one. Low tech seemed to fit it. The intro with the choir singing was a great touch, but the part that really stood out to me was when the man (singer I'm guessing) was sitting in the thrown and the stop motion creatures are moving all around him. That was great!

The dude is David Byrne, a very young David Byrne from the Talking Heads. The throne thing is from the album cover this came off of - it's a painting by the outsider artist Reverend Howard Finster, very cool. The animating of it is a neat idea.

Talking Heads were formed when the people in it were RISD students. David Byrne is one of the few non art world famous people who makes some decent high art world art and photography.

That was pretty awesome.

My girl is a photographer and has been talking about wanting to do stop-motion forever, she's going to love this.
