If you were worth say, 100 million dollars.

Assuming the hundred million is currently in a completely liquid state, then four - one each in England, America, Canada and Germany. Probably London, New York, Toronto and Berlin, but I could be swayed.

I'd pay off what's left of the mortgage on my current house (I LURVE my house and its location - it's dream-come true stuff).

I'd buy a house in the Duddon Valley in Cumbria and spend lots of weekends there.

I'd buy a house in London so I can stop staying in hotels when I go there every month on business.

I'd buy a house in Dax in SW France and spend all of August every year there.

I'd buy a house in Negril in Jamaica and spend a couple of weeks a year there.

For my other travelling I'd use hotels.

Probably Sedona, Arizona for winter. Alaska for summer. Somewhere with a clear view of Denali.

Munich is so way cooler than Berlin.

Then you can see Russia from your house!

I'm not sure I'd have homes there, but I'd like to go visit the cherry blossoms in Japan when they bloom, and visit fall in the Berkshires.

And try to bring honor back to Alaska. By keeping my mouth shut!

I'd want a beach house in South Carolina. Hilton Head perhaps. A house in the north Georgia mountains, Dahlonega maybe. Seattle for the summers. Maybe Highlands NC on the lake. The lot there would be a million dollars.

I would have a wee cottage on the beach in Tounge which is on the north west highlands of Scotland. Shit weather but amazing beaches and scenery.

A penthouse flat in Zurich because that would locate me right in the centre of europe.

The last one would be a small farm in the czech republc,

A house boat sounds appealing too.

I'd find a small tower house some where in the Irish countryside (modernly renivated on the inside for convenience) with a great garden for photographing my creations.

Something in the city as well for when I don't want to feel so mideval.

And one some where close to where I am. For the most part it would be for me for before I get "permission to land" in Dublin, then once I do I'd let my mom live there as long as she kept a bedroom and sewing room for me for when I visit.

New York, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Italy, Ireland, and about a 1,000 acres in the mountains/woods somewhere in the US.

I think one? The one house might be on Nantucket or something.

If I fell totally in love with anything I'd apartment swap or rent for the month. Nothing slouchy mind you, but I don't have a strong sense of having to have a house somewhere I might be a month in the year. I've never understood this. I love good hotels, though, I'm perfectly content to use them.

The main home would be a farm on a shitload of acreage in South Alabama. There'd also be a little beach cottage in Destin, Florida, a place in Shelbyville, Tennessee, or thereabouts, and some sort of place in Negril, Jamaica.

virginia, so Master, viv, and the kids can be by their extended family.

new york, so i could be by my extended family.

a place on a kink friendly nude beach.

Well at $100 million and approximately 200 countries in the world, that could be a $500,000 home in every country! You're very generous.

Well I'd keep the one I've got here in Canada. I love it!

Where else? oh this is difficult

Definitely Istanbul - it's the favourite place I've travelled to so far)

Somewhere on the coast in California - maybe San Francisco

Somewhere on the east coast of the US - maybe Boston

Ireland - to have access to the UK and Europe and Ireland is my fav...west cost north of Shannon, a renovated thatch-roofed cottage with some land would be wonderful

That should leave me all sorts of money left over to build lots of low-income housing for others so I didn't feel so greedy having all these houses.

I'd just buy one..a really nice one. Probably on the ocean somewhere. I'd travel the world though.

Very nice av. Where is that?

My answer is one, the one I own now. If I were handed 100 million, I'd start writing checks.

A place my grandfather bought in 1950. Was stone but burned down when hit by lightning around 1976. 78 acres.

Stone burned? Was the house rebuilt?

You must have amazing memories of playing there as a kid. Damn, that's pretty. What kind of wildlife's in the water and woods?

There's a really nice big house near where I live, I'd move there.

I love where I live, so I wouldn't want to move too far away.

Well, the fire pretty much gutted it. Some of the stone was saved and used. They made it two stories. 4 bedrooms.

It was a big family. 19 cousins. The entire family would meet there every Sunday. Back in the 60s anyway.

There are wood ducks living there. Other ducks stop by. The first nesting pair of geese had goslings for the first time this year but they didn't survive. I think either someone shot them or the turtles got them. Deer and turkey are about all you see but I'm sure there are other creatures you don't. I can't hunt there anyway because it's in South Carolina. 14 miles away but different state.

I can fish though. Rules are different for fishing. There are bass, bream, and catfish. It's a little too warm for trout there.

I'd like a place on a little acreage - say, 25-50, with lots of old-growth trees - somewhere in/next to the Smokies, TN/NC/SC for much of the year. A small villa in Italy, probably in the lakes region, for parts of spring and autumn. A little place in the mountains in SoCal for the coldest parts of winter. Fishable waters in/next to/near each of them.

this question has me daydreaming!
i would have to have my main home on a large piece of land that had hot springs in northern new mexico.
a cottage in lower austria... a house on a black sand beach in costa rica... a beach house in encinitas, california... then there would be the traveling...

Oh, man, I'm chuckling. When I ask about wildlife, I'm used to people responding with something like: "Here's what I saw/photographed/swam with/heard." Not: "Here's what I can or can't kill."

No judgment here, WD. I really do think of hunting as the most humane way to get meat for dinner. It's just a very different perspective.

Sundays with 19 cousins as a kid sounds outstanding. I haven't had this much grandparent envy since Rosco told me that one of his had a place on the Chesapeake Bay.
