This is weird.

If no one was hurt, how can it be any type of assault except verbal and then that's just a battery charge.

I don't think there's a law against having a food fight in your own home. Is there?

This is why there needs to be an open hunting season on trial lawyers.

Hey! Cheetos can be deadly! Just wait till someone throw some at you and that orange stuff gets in your eyes. Or one lands in your open, shouting mouth and gets stuck sideways in your throat.

I say, throw the book at 'em!

Even if they were, the combatants were throwing the loose Cheetos at each other. Of course, if you had enough of them, perhaps you could bury a person in them. That might result in death by smothering.

We don't have Cheetos over here.
This thread made me Google "Cheetos".
www.cheetos.com is the most ridiculous brand site ever.
It's so full of WTF moments it must break a new world record.

Just wanted to say that.

That just proves how deadly Cheetos are! Liar's very civilized country has obviously outlawed them, and has done so for many decades, understanding how they might be used to do harm.

How right you are! No doubt they were having an argument that degenerated into assault with deadly cheetos. Any marriage counselor would see the danger in this, if not his lost income, and petition as a friend of the court for their rehabilitation. How wise the deputy acted when he did!

Assault is usually verbal. Assault is the intentional threat of bodily harm. Battery is the intentional inflicting of bodily harm.
