Small "Comments" Change on Submission Page Coming Soon

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to let you know that I am planning to make a tiny change on the story/poem submission page over the weekend.

This change will only affect stories submitted in the future. It will have no effect on stories submitted before the change is made.

Currently, when you submit a story or poem, the default value for the "Allow Public Comments" setting is "No". In the future, the default value for that option will be "Yes". That's it - just a tiny change.

The reason for this is because we get several emails a week from authors who do not understand why they are not getting any comments on their stories. The usual reason that they aren't getting comments is because the comment board is turned off, even though they thought it was on. So, we figure that having it "on" by default should get rid of that problem once and for all for Lit authors.

If you do want to turn off the comments during the submission process, you can still do so just by clicking the "no" button, so it shouldn't cause any hassle for those of you who are anti-comment board.

This isn't a suggestion... more of a bug report. I just submitted a new story, as a MSWord doc file, not a copy & paste into the text box, and when I hit the "preview" button, the keywords I'd typed in didn't appear on the confirmation page. Everything else was displayed correctly; the story title, the plot synopsis, the comments settings - everything except the keywords I gave.

I've struck this problem before, and all the keywords are there when the story gets published, so I'm sure that they've gone through this time as well. But it's a bit of a worry to see the submission confirmation page with just a blank space listed under "Keywords."

I just posted a story recently [shameless plug Redemption 3] and it was already done for me. I noticed it, and there was much rejoicing.

No, no you misunderstand...I wasn't commenting on any specific post...just that this was either a) posted back in May and nobody noticed. or 2) it was posted today but with a timestamp back in May.

Either way it's funny.

And yes Manu and company have been busy lately.

When I first read this post, I thought about mentioning the keywords error, but it had been a while since I'd uploaded a story and I wasn't sure it hadn't been fixed. So I waited until I could actually confirm the keywords don't appear before I reported it.
