Election Protests in Iran Turn Bloody and word gets out on Twitter

No one is getting this. It's actually happening that protesters are being shot and beat up. Our journalist are have been locked in their hotels and their credentitials taken away. The only way this information is gettting out is via Twitter and the government their is trying to stop it. They are shutting down servers. This isn't isome scam being run by our government. People are being massacured

Same thing happened in Tienanmen. It's none of our business. Your President ran on and wants to move on from the "Axis of Evil" nonsense. No matter WHO won, all the candidates are from the same party, Islam, and all had the approval of the Mullahs and they decided it was a fair an honest election and if the losers can't get over it, they deserve to be shot, but right now this administration is focused on leashing Israel and beginning a dialog with the Mullahs and making a big deal over a little violence will hamper that effort.

You voted for it, you were told what the approach was going to be, grow up, get over and live with the consequences of the vote just like the Iranian people will in very short order as did the Chinese people. WE FIRED EVERYONE WHO WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT "HASTY" OUTRAGE...

The thinkers and talkers control the government now and they are going to do precisely that, think and talk.

Me, I no longer give a shit, when I did, people like you did everything they could to convince how stupid I was to feel outraged about Saddam Hussein and the need to do something about him and stand by and give meaning to UN resolutions. So, sit back, relax, turn off twitter and the news and give the UN time to work its magic.

Be skeptical about it all you want the people reporting it there are the people living it, and supposedly there are more being killed then those that stormed the temple. This huge. The protesters are doing things that DEFY Muslim law. This is now not only a politcal revolt but a spiritual one

They had equally big demonstrations in favor of the election today...

And you shouldn't but there is enough evidence mounting up that this is actually happening

I am reviewing the evidence - I believe the general story in regards to what is happening. However, I am not hysterical about it, nor will I ever be.

It's all about Obama, huh?

I noticed in a lot of the BBC and ITN coverage that the people on the streets of tehran were holding up messages in English. Many obviously printed from computers. They are well aware that they need to let the West know what their protest is about, and the best language to use is English. There is little point in trying to let the world know about what is going on by posting in Persian.

Yes, I have thought about that and I see the point. However, an existing twitter account - one created a week or two ago and then some - is going to be bilingual at least. I must be skeptical of newly created twitter accounts, those created just to get the word out. I don't know who is writing those tweets, nor do I know their agenda.

He is our CIC and the head of the state department, that's just reality. He's making a lot of mealy-mouthed political statements designed to keep him in a negotiating position.

When the Russians kicked in the door to Georgia, his immediate response was to take Russia to the Security Council. He does not want the mob to get in the way of his negotiations, even though on Friday, he tried to credit the results of the election and a new Iranian President (the father of their nuclear weapons program) to his Cairo speech.

Now he has to mind his p's & q's and try to keep the dialog open for he has ruled out all other options. He almost backed the loser, e can;t afford to make a second mistake and still hope to entertain a productive dialog.

And I'm not hysterical about it either. I'm simply saying that something important is happening here and people need to be aware.

No offense, but you do seem a tad hysterical. It's your " you aren't getting it!!!" response to my being uncomfortable with anonymous sources which smells of hysteria.

I don't believe I said that to you. I said "No one is getting this". What I meant by that is people are focusing on the election and not seeing the bigger thing of what is going on here.

If you haven't already seen it, you might be interested in this blog. Lots of videos, first person accounts, translations from Farsi to English, still shots.

ETA: The blogger, Nico Pitney, mentioned in a recent update that he was interviewed by Rachel Maddow, so I looked for that footage on her site. In the interview, Pitney addresses questions relating to the legitimacy of his sources.

Lets see, maybe, just maybe, there might have been a slight miscount in the ballots, and they did count them pretty fast, not to say the electric way isn't faster but,

lmao...

It doesn't even matter who won, they're all sock-puppets to Sharia....

My prediction: More blood will have to flow before the "educated" elements of Iranian society "Get Smart."

There's a big difference in this ol' world between book smart and street smart.
