Has anyone seen or heard about the movie OutRage? It's a movie about outing gay politicians who have campaigned against gay marriage and have also publicly denounced homosexuality in general.

Watch the trailer and then weigh in. I've talked to people on another mb and in IRL about this movie and have gotten surprising answers about whether the maker of this movie is doing justice or is completely and totally out of line.

My best friend in Ca (a gay male) was vehemently opposed to this movie. I was sort of wishy washy. Part of me says these fuckers deserve it and part of me thinks nobody deserves that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: coming out is an extremely personal process and an extremely personal decision, no one knows how it feels to be in anyone else's skin.

However...

If you live a hypocritical life that puts the civil rights, the personal happiness and even the health of other people on the line for your own political gain...

I haven't see the movie (plan to when it hits DVD) but in the case of a douche bag like Larry Craig????? No sweat off my back or sympathy for that hypocritical asshole.

Someone like Charlie Crist, gov of Florida? He's never admitted at all to being gay, a lot of it is speculation, so harassing him is sort of dumb. I think he did the "marriage is between a man and a woman" mumble that almost all politicians say but he's not one of those extremists condemning gays to hell or anything.

Maybe someone knows more about him than I do. I know he's a somewhat moderate Republican and was on the short list as a running mate for McCain.

There's no good reason to violate a person's rights beyond the Constitutionally specified exceptions of criminal conviction and such, and I believe privacy is one of those rights. While it may not be explicitly stated in the Constitution, it is at least implied by the right to our person as well as the prohibition of unreasonable searches and seizures (and perhaps other things). It is at the very least a firmly established tradition in America to respect people's privacy in general.

I don't think it is a good thing to out gays or lesbians in general because it is traumatic enough being one without being fucked with by our bros and sisters.

That said, however, I've got NO problem exposing hypocrites regardless of their sexual orientation. Guys that rant and rail against homosexuality and then go suck somebody's dick in the shadows are hypocrites plain and simple and deserve the kharma that lands dead square on their asses.

I know what the point of the question was. My answer was that it's not right to invade someone's privacy for any reason.

Charley Crist is more along the lines of being more than just a moderate Republican. He alined himself with an evangelical minster during his campaign and later disengaged for the connection when the minister made statements about the Islamic groups in Florida.

One thing I do believe about him is that he really does believe in his statement "Live and let live". He is a true politician that panders to whoever or whatever group will get him elected. The political makeup of Florida is based on more of the older generation of Southern Baptists and of staunch Christian Latin voters.

One other thing I do believe about Charley is he has his eye on making it all the way to the Whitehouse and he will do anything he can to make that happen. He followed in the footsteps of then Governor Jeb Bush and only made waves so that he could set himself apart from him.

If anything, Charley may be Bi but untill someone comes out in the open and make statements that will stick, the speculation will continue. Most of that speculation was because of his failed marriage, the fact that he didn't own property, he pronounced himself a confirmed bachelor (then turned around and got married) and his age.

That's what he seems to be heading for. He's been sort of courted by the Republican National Committee as a possable candidate who has the people skills to make a run for it.

Jindal isn't thinking about it just yet (see: http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/pol...ord=GOP+2012+Race&tag=contentMain;contentBody ). As for Sara now that's a wait and see game.

As for proving the charge of Crist's hypocrisy, the film shows his awkward response to a question on same-sex marriage at a Tampa debate eight days before the 2006 election. At that time, Crist was a briefly married, former longtime bachelor.

''I believe that marriage is a sacred relationship between a man and a woman,'' Crist said. ``A marriage is a relationship like my mother and father had -- like I had before I got divorced.''
