The more likely scenario is that your apologetic excuse for a man, with his pacifist, let's talk attitude, will lose what has been gained to extend freedom to Iraq and not have the courage to continue in Afghanistan.

It gets worse.

Islam will continue to spread throughout Africa and Asia; North Korea will re-unify the peninsula, China will retake Taiwan and begin to carve an empire from the rest of Asia.

Internecine conflicts will arise in Europe, NATO will be useless, the Russians will march again and the US will be in a pre world war one state of isolation.

A better scenario would be if the new administrations grandiose socialist plans are judged unconstitutional, voters cleanse the ranks in 2010 and a third party, a true conservative party, sweeps into office in 2012.

We can maybe hold on that long.

If you bothered to read my posts you'd know I think George Bush was a num nuts frat boy. The airplane incident was a disgrace. What was the fucking NAVY thinking, sending an unarmed airplane to snoop on the Slopes?

George Bush was not only a disgrace to his uniform and fellow warriors; he's a republican. I've read enough of your and Amicus spew to know that you both support his policies and agenda......
Sore Losers Club - this is a sing-a-long; a song that I played for my father and my daughter played for me so many years later:

Come mother and fathers
throughout the whole land
and don't criticize
what ya can't understand
yer sons and yer daughters
are beyond your command
and the
Times they are a-changin'

Bobby Dylan.......

It's as true today as it was forty-five years ago.......

Bobby (not ready for prime time) Jindal - btw, I'd like to see all the 'conservative' (what is that a code work for?) voters go for this guy....Sarah Palin - she needs to take care of bidness at home 'fore she can pontificate to the rest of us about 'values'; dig that?
Huckabee? Bush? Gingrich? the list goes on and on.....
I wanna see the list of republicans who AREN'T gonna run for President......mighty short - Without ideas, no one has a vision. Without a vision no one can dream.......Without dreams.....
You get the picture.....

So get outa the new world

I'm confident Dubya and I share the same sentiments for many things....like breathing and eating and sex, etc. So if breathing, eating, sex, and a good brewskie define me as a Republican, I suppose I am.

get This Shit! The Fucking Navy Has Been Using The Assault Helicopter To Cater The Hostage Party. It Flies Food & Beverage To The Pirates, Fresh Laundry, And Entertainment Items.

No Goddamned Wonder They Wont Negotiate, And Say Theyre Not Afraid Of Americans.

During 2008, nearly 100 million dollars were paid in ransom to pirates off the coast of Somalia. Why did this only become an issue this week?

note

human life has the greatest of value says ami.

problem: pay 10 million to save one?

ami, no! that would be wussy and NOT macho.

guess, then what ami's highest value REALLY is?
===

a good capitalist CEO was on TV. he had recently paid x million for ransom of a ship's crew. said he had no regrets. good value for the money.

question: a kidnapper holds your daughter and wants 10 grand. you believe him, based on the past. he will return her for ten grand. do you pay?

BECAUSE AMERICA'S OX WAS GORED. PAYING RANSOMS AND LIFE ON THEIR KNEES IS BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR THE EURO'S

Maybe Michelle bitch-slapped Obama and made him do something.

Much to the chagrin of a few on this forum:

this drama has come to successful conclusion. There's any number of factors that have played into this success, not the least of which is the management from the top.
Let me parse this out for the SLC who have been wringing their hands and whining about not hearing from the White House: Pay attention whiners and learn, this is a free lesson.

One of the secrets of a successful manager/leader/head honcho is to ensure that you have good people in place to do a job, that those good people understand the goals, that those good people have the resources to accomplish those goals and most importantly: that they are given the opportunity to accomplish those goals.
I use these on a daily basis, sometimes my team takes a path that I might not use but if the resolution is successful, I look good and so do they.
Congratulations to the US Navy, the DoD, the DoS, and our new President on a successful operation.
God Bless America!!!!

I wondered what take the Sore Losers Club would use to backpeddle out of this. :D

You just know Michelle had to grab him by the ear and twist it until he was more afraid of her than he was the Usual Suspects.

Lay down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas.........

I noticed you've changed yer tune now that the seals have been able to execute......your boy Dubya let the Chinese humiliate us and hold an aircraft and crew hostage......pucker up and enjoy the taste of someone else behind.....you've earned it JBJ!!!

Your two statements make no sense together.

They are stuck. Force the issue.

Statement number one is the most impactful argument for why we should NOT force the issue.

If you can't make the intellectual leap yourself, read up on the history of warfare and something called a siege.

The best chance to get our man back alive is by being patient and denying them any hope of relief.

I'll pay a ransom of food and water... and then they will STILL be stuck under my guns. In not much time, the brig is gonna start seeming like a comfy alternative.

So, it makes no sense huh?

It seems like you were the one who didn't make the intellectual leap and you are the one who needs to study warfare more.

All inane politics aside, this pretty much played out using standard hostage procedures that have been in place/use for some time. It really has nothing to do with who is in the White House.

Thank you!

A job well done by the U.S, Navy, the Captain of the Bainbridge that gave the order, the Navy Seals 'sharpshooters' who killed the three terrorists on the life boat; one terrorist was aboard a naval ship, 'discussing' the situation.

"Standard Orders" previously given military units, to use lethal force when an American life is threatened provided the authorization for the action; it took until Saturday, four days after the event began, three days after the Bainbridge was on location before the Commander in Chief confirmed those 'standing orders', to take the first opportunity to kill the terrorists.

There is no question that the 'political overtures' from the White House were weak and without direction as the overall methodology was to attempt to, 'talk their way out', of a terror situation.

Fortunately, in this case, the lethargy of Washington did not prevent a positive outcome.

The new President has been tested, as predicted, and failed to act decisively.

So while it is theoretically correct that the resolution had little to do with the White House, the total lack of the expression of a firm stance by the US Government will be noted and acted on around the world.

Kudo's to the Captain of the Bainbridge and the Seals involved and to the courage of the Captain of the Maersk Alabama.

re ami

The BBC News reported that 'President Obama personally approved the rescue operation'.
The BBC has a worldwide reputation of being totally neutral/apolitical in its reporting, unlike some other news channels.

If nothing had been done, amicus would blame the president, however since something was done, now Obama had nothing to do with the decision.

How transparent. :D

I say we pay the ransom now, just to confuse the fuck out of everyone.
