Although it is unthinkable to me, a 'clause' signed by the former President Bush may be reversed by the new administration, forcing doctors to perform abortions against their will.

Shades of socialized medicine indeed.

An Obgyn, on the news, "If they try to force me to perform abortions, I will leave the practice of medicine."

Most refuse to believe when I assert that the government, under a national health plan, will 'force' doctors to perform.

I hope they all resign and leave you shitheads without any medical resources. It is what you deserve.

I'll try to remember that if ever I need an abortion.

Seriously, I don't think any doctor should be made to go either way against their consciousness--or that they should be permitted to force their views on anyone else, for that matter. I know this pops up concerning pharmicists too. I don't think they should be forced to fill prescriptions for day after pills on an individual basis--rather that lists should be maintained where these prescriptions can be filled. I also don't think that their refusal should come with a lecture of their views on the matter.

And gee, Amicus, how are you going to catagorize a liberal with such "in-between" views? I know it's a real strain for you to see anything but black and white.

(And weren't you the Puritan objecting to the use of a foul word on another thread? :D)

Why is it you know how to search online to copy and paste items you approve of, but can't muster the skill when it is something you oppose?

The transcription of the news item is not yet posted.

Here it is.

"The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is inviting public comment on a proposal to rescind an important federal regulation issued in December. The regulation implements and enforces three federal laws protecting the conscience rights of health care providers, especially those at risk of being discriminated against because of their moral or religious objection to abortion."

Prior to the passage of the original rule, I e-mailed my Congressman urging that the conscience clause apply equally to ALL who work in health care institutions or systems that receive federal funding.

This would include those who object on moral, ethical, or religious grounds to providing and/or being associated with abortion and birth control, AND those who object on moral, ethical, or religious grounds to withholding provision of, or referral for, those services.

Put it into practice that way, and I'll have no objection.

That's rhetorical, right?

Post #2, SDes, as Pure falls apart aside from stealing and pasting issues just to goad those who hold different views.

I suggest it is also important to note the 'strings' attached to both the TARP bailout monies, and the 'spending' plans which some States declined in part, because of continuing requirements if the money was accepted.

If the Federal government 'gives' tax money of some to others, you will damned well spend it in ways the government approves.

It is that same attitude expressed by the new President, if you want aid to medical services, you will follow our rules and guidelines, e.g., you take money, you perform abortions.

Not a good path, SDes, for a free country, not a good path at all.

John Stossel did a report that showed how much of the Stimulus money was being wasted because of Federal regulations in spending. Jobs that required menial labor (that would normally cost a business $12 - $15/hr) were forced to pay Union scale for the highly skilled version of the position (no matter how thin the connection was). The example they focused on were people doing window treatments in Vegas being paid as a highly skilled union glass worker ($54/hr). The regulations vary from state to state so it's impossible to calculate the jobs lost to people who need mid-level jobs to survive, but they said it was massive.

Yup...as I have said before, payback time for the huge campaign contributions and 'feet on the ground' door to door campaigning contributed by the Unions.

Payback time, regardless of how others suffer.

Thank you for the confirmation.

There is not one so called "stimulous" job available to the 70%+ workers who do not belong to a union.

As for the Conscience rule? Look at the top spots in the Administration and the so called Congressional leadership(?). I wonder if any of them could spell it, they obviously don't have one.

Ami, you need a life.

Since the presidential election, you've started dozens of threads - maybe hundreds - criticizing every aspect of - well - of everything the new president, the administration, the military, the objectives, the United States of America - everything.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

You need a real hobby, I think.

I think it's what sore losers do.

And it wasn't ever since the presidential election. He disappeared from here for two weeks hoping we'd forget how miserably off he was in his prognostications on the election results.

That is true, isn't it?

And we haven't seen Roxelby since, either.

Tsk.

Since my arrival here in 2003, you/et al, have posted hundreds, if not thousands of anti Bush, anit Cheney, anti Rumseld, pro abortion, pro gay rights, pro women's rights threads and now you bitch?

Can't take it, eh?

Finally there is a bare hand full of posters willing to confront your monopoly of this board. About damned time...

Laughing -

I have not. You're delusional.

My threads are about my family, about Litogethers, about sex, and sometimes even about writing.

Every once in awhile I'd toss in a Bush thread. But he's gone, m'dear.

Long gone.

And I wake up every morning with a smile because of that fact.

Your sour grapes are showing.

If it pleases you to think so, be my guest.

I think the reality of the last election has finally arrived and I sense a stirring of the American spirit that is gonna rise up and smack you folks...

Been wrong before...may be again...but there it is, flying high for everyone to take a shot at.

Have at it.

Amicus...

You have been wrong before.

Last November, in fact.

And I think you're wrong now.

Good luck to you.

...and to you...the loyal and civil opposition is always welcome...

We need to remember that the rich need money too.......

DP, Ami, and the rest of you trolls.......make some money and then post some apologist crap about what to do with it......otherwise, it's the same tired shit that drove the whole country into a ditch.....
Oh, yeah! You forgot about where your heroes drove the bus........
Our great-grandchildren will laugh at our foibles......

Does he have any of his own thoughts?
