That's tough. I really love the "Tree people" as the native Americans used to say.

Some type of nut. Leaning slightly from the effects of wind and weather, but roots still firmly planted in the ground, even if some of my branches no longer leaf out in the spring.

Maybe a magnolia. I don't like leafless trees in the wintertime.

Van Gogh's Cypresses, the ones in the Pyrenees that point upward. I thought it was just his overactive imagination till I woke up near Port-Bou on the train.

A drunken, bitter, cynical, sarcastic tree...growing near a bar so that my roots could enter the basement and tap into the kegs....with a heart of gold, though.

I gotta choose one?!

I love weeping willows and bamboo, but I'd say the tree that best suits my personality would be a maple.

Edit: According to this, I'm a cedar.

My nine year old daughter told me tonight that she feels like an apple tree surrounded by tall, dark evergreens.

I'm a gnarled old cypress with the wind off the ocean in my hair.

According to the Tree Personality Test, my personality matches with Oak, Alder and Beech.

Their definitions/descriptions (the parts bolded are the parts I agree with the most):

Oak

Oak, the tree of Kings and Rulers, is the most powerful tree; it is “the highest of trees”, as its Ogham name says. Oak was considered one of the main trees in Druidic tradition. It is tree of power, of authority, of endurance and triumph. Oak is wood with strong male nature. The potent character of this tree reveals itself in association with various Thunder Gods, such as Zeus, Jupiter and Thor.

It's important to emphasize that the Oak power is not the power of simple 'strength'. It implies spiritual, higher power, which can be granted only by gods themselves; and because of that the Oak tree often represents the divine nature of royal authority. As a King Tree, Oak dominates in many areas and various aspects of magic, but especially in those where active effort and protection is required. Oak tree is wise and noble guardian, the protector of all lesser trees.

The Oak power may seem too severe and brutal, for it lacks preciseness and accuracy, but this 'flaw' is easily compensated with its triumphal spiritual light - the Otherworld Light, which no evil can resist.

Keywords: royalty, power, domination, leadership, strength, divine spirit, guardian, protector, endurance, triumph, male principle, active creation, prosperity, guidance from Otherworld, non-precise but right, connection to higher Worlds, divine order, thunder and lightning.

Alder

Alder, the tree of fire, has a very strong battle spirit. According to “Cad Goddeu” (“The Battle of Trees”), Alder fought in the very front line. This tree is often seen as the symbol of 'Godlike-Warrior', and thus associated with Mars. It embodies such qualities as courage, strength, braveness, and symbolizes leadership on the battlefield.

However, despite its warrior spirit, Alder is not a bloodthirsty aggressor. It fights only for worthy cause, and always stays for what is right and just. Rather protector than destroyer, Alder shows its noble and strict nature when it comes to interests of the Family or Clan. It can be seen as the head of a big, united family and has a strong sense of belonging to it. That's why Alder tree may be associated with both male and female principle; the choice depends on who is the keeper of the family. In general, Alder personifies the Mankind as whole.

Alder tree has many useful magical qualities. In addition to being the tree of Fire, it has a clear connection with Air and Water: Alder can summon and control the four winds (Air); as to Water, Alder nature prevents him from underwater decay and thus it can resist all negative spells with Water influence.

Alder also symbolizes a physical appearance, and due to this quality can be used in glamour spells.

Keywords: noble warrior, battle-spirit, strength, courage, just and strict nature, leadership in battle, Mankind, family tradition, keeper of house, active defender, resistance to alien influence.

Beech

Beech, along with Rowan and Hazel, is the tree commonly associated with knowledge. In this case, it is the kind of knowledge, which can be revealed mainly via 'material' sources, for example, in old objects, places and writings. This wood has a clear connection with ancient tradition and history and is thought to provide guidance from the past.

Beech tree is overall optimistic and lucky, though conservatism and straightforwardness are not stranger to it. The nature of Beech is steady and stable; it symbolize a solid base upon one's value system is built. Despite the implied solidity, this wood is not stagnant or inert; quite the contrary, it provides excellent flow of energy (though doesn't hold energy well). Beech's strong connection to material aspect of life reveals itself when it comes to works involving 'creation': all things created 'in a Beech spirit' are strict, solid and defined, and they are lacking in fantasy sometimes, being too traditional and predictable.

In spiritual and magical workings, Beech is often used for spells dealing with material objects; but it can bring stability and balance to almost any spell or charm. Due to its ability to conduct energy, Beech does well as mediator and in that quality can be used in various rituals. In addition to it, this wood's spirit is favourable to gaining wealth and bringing luck.

Keywords: ancient knowledge preserved in material sources, tradition, past experience, flow of energy, solid foundation, distinctness, stability, lack of innovation, wealth, luck, straight nature, positive spirit.

Heh. I dunno why it gave me three trees, but maybe they represent different aspects of personality... ? Maybe if some of y'all give it a try, we'll find that it gives everyone three. Or maybe more.

Elder
Alder

The write-ups were almost creepy. Especially Elder.

Elder is the most mysterious tree in the old tradition. This wood has a rather dark symbolism, for it has always been connected with death, misfortunes and various chthonic beings. It was considered dangerous to sleep under its branches or to cut it down. Christianity adds even more dark aspect to Elder's symbolism: sometimes is said that it was the crucifixion tree, as well as the tree which Judas handed himself on.
Elder has long been associated with magic and witchcraft. It thought to evoke dreams, hallucinations and divine visions. However, this tree is one of the few ones that have the ability to dispel them as well. Elder spirit is aggressive and strong; and this wood can be unforgiving to dishonest person. It does well in detecting evil powers and is good for active protection against them. Bringing Elder inside the house can be very dangerous, for it may cause a misfortune.

Death aspect in the Elder meaning must be understood correctly. Death personified by this tree means 'ultimate end', summation, purge, cutting of the redundant. Unlike other trees, also connected with death (Blackthorn, Yew, Willow etc.), Elder's death implies no transformation – just the end. Nothing remains after this end: no mistakes, no achievements, no personal things at all – only emptiness and light. Elder brings completion for all things have been done, and paves the way for new life. It's important to emphasize that Elder does not create this life itself; it only gives a possibility for it to appear. That's why it signifies 'Life in Death and Death in Life'.

Perhaps, the most powerful of all woods, Elder must be used with extreme caution. It can be very good in matters of active protection from aggression and banishing the evil spirits, though, only in the case when the bearer is 'on the right side'. In addition to this, Elder is indispensable in all rituals which has a meaning of 'completion' or aimed at revealing the truth.

Keywords: mystery, impossibility to understand, end of all things, completion, honesty, power, banishing evil, active protection, chthonic beings, misfortunes, cutting off the redundant, summation, ultimate death, scorching light, the way for new life, secrets revealed.

I am become Death Tree, wooden destroyer of worlds.
