Thank you :D MANU!!!!!

I don’t know what exactly you did (did you change the size of the font?) but “Ohhh Mommy”, I Groaned now shows up when I click open the Most Read : Stories page. And I haven’t changed places on the list. Before, on my computer, only the top nineteen stories of all time showed up on my screen when I clicked open the page. And I just happened to be #20! So I had to scroll down to see my name. Which was a bummer.

Then bingo, I clicked the page open today and the top twenty are displayed!

Thanks man, you made my weekend.

Jim

Manu's :D the man!!!

I’m james r scouries and I think the ROYALS are …

Dolphins love MANU :D now (although he’s still got some work to do on the contest voting system…

Showing how clueless you are again, eh scouries?

Nothing, zip, zilch, nada, bumpkis has changed on that page. If you see your name now without scrolling, it's something you have done.

Just like how it got there in the first place.

I honestly don't know which is the most sadly amusing -- you being as ignorant as you appear, or you pretending to be this ignorant.

Ah, I see the ScouriesWorld crew is as silly as usual. :)

Isn't it amazing how quickly and easily bsergi1 has fit in with the others. It's almost as if he/she/it was always here with them. ;)

You see, there's a difference in that cover and yours. First off, the color combinations are pleasing to the eye. Second, the little Aztec circle thing in the middle being covered is different than lettering being scrawled across someone's face on a cover.

Perhaps I should've worded things different for your pea-brain. When there are people on the cover, the title and author's name shouldn't cover them. Those cheerleaders on your cover look like their heads were cut off. So no, the team the cheerleaders represent is not clear to anyone looking at that cover.

And you were gone for a day looking for that, huh? Only found one? One out of millions and millions of books. I mean you're so knowledgeable about books and everything, so I figured you'd come up with tons of examples.

In any case, let's keep you busy for another day...go find a book cover where the PEOPLE on the cover are obscured by the title and author's name.

Actually, I picked up Mexico at a thrift store a couple days ago for $1. Haven't started reading it yet.

Well, here's another one with the head obscured by the lettering, much like Michener's book Mexico. Oh, this one is by another famous James. It seems to me that in this case, the cover focuses on a fundamental element of the story. I mean, who wouldn't buy it based upon the cover alone. You know, to find out if this babe produced more milk than your typical breastfeeding woman.

The cover should be a positive for effectively marketing the work, as it is for this one.

I agree that the covers offered for Jim's book would match a Scouries book well (if there ever was one).

I think you should design the cover for your imaginary book too, Sarahh.

Hey, Darniciad and other AH'ers have covers for their stories. Scouries' (both covers and stories) are, however, far superior for obvious reasons.

Tomorrow is Sunday, Ace. You know what that means—your Bible teaching to that group of professors from the Bible study book you authored. Where did you get your own Bible training? A seminary like Notre Flame, Theological Closet, or Pink Palace?

I don’t think you ever did tell us your other theory on the parting of the Red Sea you did last Sunday. A tsunami or tectonic shift or some such thing?

So what’s on tap for tomorrow’s teaching?

Well, let’s find out if you learned anything this past week. Let’s say you have a copy of your book Cruising Through History sitting on your lectern tomorrow. The professors start asking questions about it, and you give them a verbal synopsis. Then they ask where they can buy it (a print edition, just like the one at your lectern). Do you tell them to go to Amazon.com or CreateSpace?

Yep, those convey scouries and his work perfectly. Loud, obnoxious, self-important, reality-challenged, poorly crafted, little attention to detail, and hard on the eyes.

Is that how much you're being paid for the amateur cover art, too? Cuz I think $1, even in Monopoly money, is way, way too much.

Ahh, Ace, its wonderful to be loved. Spring is in the air, babe! Get yourself an avatar. You didn't think I fit in until I came ALIVE.

LOVE it! Have to wipe my eyes before I can do any more typing.

I hope you got her name and phone number for Selena. She might need some help with her breast feeding soon. For as long as her gestation period has been going on, she might be giving birth to a very, very large mammal and need to subsidize.

Say what? Little attention to detail? I don't see any babes on your covers with supernumerary nipples (you know, a witch's tit, all the better for breastfeeding). Look closely . . .

You also won't see any of the recent or future ones with such blurry images, important title words lacking any anti-aliasing so that they become a pixallated mess, or piss-poor composition.

Since I don't have any tales about three-breasted women, it stands to reason that I wouldn't have any images of it.

Of course, reason is one of those little things we have here in the real world, so I wouldn't expect you to understand that :D

Yes, I think the covers suit Scouries' nonbooks very well.

I'm not teaching tomorrow. That duty rotates. I will be helping to conduct the church service, though.

And then, in the afternoon, I'm singing in the Virginia Oratorio Society's concert of Haydn's Creation.

So, a pretty full day in the real world.

(And yes I did tell you my theory on the parting of the sea--twice. You just weren't paying attention.)

Will you do doing anything real and not silly tomorrow, Sarrahh?

QUOTE arkboy :( Nothing, zip, zilch, nada, bumpkis has changed on that page. If you see your name now without scrolling, it's something you have done.

Although you are the self proclaimed AH expert on matters computerese I have to advise you that in this case my dear boy you’re wrong. Again!!! One of he interesting thing about you so called technical experts (like you, robyn , :nana: boy, etc) is that every time I check something you’ve pontificated upon it turns out you’re wrong.

In this case the kind Mr. Manu :D actually responded to my request. Just a few weeks ago I mentioned on this thread that I was eagerly awaiting moving up from 20th to 19th because my screen only displayed the top nineteen (and just a hint of the 20th) of the all time most viewed stories.

After reading your arrogant post I did a little research of my own. Fortunately I’d copied the list a couple of months ago and so was able to compare it to the list as it appeared today. And I did discover the reason for my story now appearing on my screen. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with something I did or didn’t do. Perhaps you imagined I used all my computer skills and somehow stretched my computer.

No dear boy, the answer turns out to be much simpler.

What in fact has happened is that Manu :D in a truly kind gesture has changed the size of the font in the line:

Most Read : Stories

Just enough so that my story would show up without yours truly have to do any strolling.

Which is why I thanked the gentleman. Something you should learn to do.

I’m james r scouries and I just wish these computer types would learn some manners …

As usual, Gabby, I see you are working overtime again this weekend. Its nice to see another new kid on the block. I welcome Miss Elianna, as well. I hope everyone treats her well and enjoys the neighborhood.

Since the pilot is off at church today, maybe it will have to be you who collects all her personal information and file it away for safe keeping.

Church was this morning. All afternoon was the concert I sang in--three hours of it. Then dinner at a nice restaurant.

What to alts do on a Sunday?

Pilot, If you are asking me what I did today, I'll tell you. I slept in late this morning, 7:30. I was recouperating from last night's dinner party I threw. I picked on some leftovers for lunch, had a huge glass of wine, then took a two hour nap. I just finished emptying and reloading the dishwasher. Finally have all the pots and pans washed. This has been one of my boring, laid-back days. I listened to Kelly Clarkson's new song, My Life Would Suck Without You, on Youtube. I'm amazed at the lyrics they put to music . I'm sure your songs this afternoon were much more uplifting than that. I added a few more paragraphs to a story I'm trying to finish for the Earth Day Contest. I want to play. I love games. Want to be my editor? Want to be my critic?

If you are asking me if I went to church today, I did not. I don't want you to think you are a better person than me because that's where you chose to spend your time today. I pretty much gave up on that when my favorite minister retired. I also taught Sunday School, pilot, a long time ago. I gave up when the kids started questioning the miracles. I still think its very important to be kind to one another and help your fellow man or woman. That's really the biggest message I got out of the Bible. Yes, the stories are nice and I believe they give us some of our background and history, but I also think some of them were told by somebody who was tripping on good shit, so to speak. So, pilot, there you have my background. You okay with that?

Yuck, it must suck to be you. I guess that's why you come here to play games as an alt, right?

No, it doesn't suck to be me. I am constantly surrounded my people. I'm constantly on the go. For my car to be parked in the driveway for an entire day is very unusual. I'm surprised that my neighbors haven't called to check on me. I happened to take a day for myself today. Tomorrow I start all over again with a bazillion people around me.

My life changed in November and a friend convinced me to get my first PC. Its truly a coincidence that I happened upon this website. Lets call it karma. Why does your paranoid little self still think I'm an alt?
