There will be war.

bad as it is , the us is in more danger from a rodney king style episode than the general state of the economy
your incumbent president can do very little to change the state of the affairs that were brought on by the previous inept administration
much the same as in this country , the only difference here is that our prime minister was previously chancellor and waas responsible for much of our financial hole
it is sa global problem and will take 3 years minimum to see any positive change, assuming this is the bottom of the slump

religious fundamentalism will become a serious problem over the next few years, how do you stop that?

Your whole premise if pointless. What's going on now is a result of decades of bad governmental policy on both parties watch. Trying to throw this mess in Bushs lap is pointless partisan bull shit and does absolutely nothing to contribute to a solution. It's a tactic used by politicians and their minions to distract the target while they prepare to stab him in the back. They are ALL to blame.

I'm calling 10 years, at least 10 years. My reasoning is laid out in another thread.

Yes, the Islamic world will become a more serious problem. Reduced oil revenues and food shortages will see to that.

I heard You don't mess around with Jim on the radio yesterday, what a great song.

I'm a-lookin' for the king of Pennsylvania Avenue ridin' in an armored Cadillac.
He took my money and it sure sounds funny but I'm gonna get my money back.

<sarcasm mode on>

We already have two wars going on. We need to keep the rest of our trigger happy military happy. So let us take the initiative and start one. Attacking Canada or Mexico might be a good idea. Perhaps both at once. :cattail:

Plenty of war going on now but an expansion into more geographic areas has many benefits:

  • interesting media coverage to enjoy
  • new heroes to salute
  • new villains to hate
  • refugees for cheap labor
  • investment opportunities
  • reduced freedoms and privacy under guise of patriotism

Ishmael is gonna make the first move. :p

Hey Ishy when are ya gonna do a fun thread? Your like always with the depressing stuff. :(

He's working through the Kubler-Ross model of death and dying. He's realized that there is a better-than-average chance that he will not see a Republican president for the remainder of his pathetic existence.

Hence, the bitterness.

My insightful analysis:

Another Mumbai type terrorist attack, with the terrorists coming from Pakistan, could spark a Pakistan-Indian war, with all the possible nuclear consequences, with China deciding to make a decisive move in Kashmir.

Then there is the ever present threat of Israel making the move to destroy Iran's nuclear program, and the fallout, political and potentially nuclear, of such a move.

Of course, there is always the possibility that North Korea will break the truce and move south, backed with nuclear weapons.

The drug cartels could destabilize Mexico enough that the United States decides to intervene and prop up the government, but I don't know if PBO has the backbone for this.

The Germans are making noise about recovering territory lost to Poland.

But my biggest fear is that Icelandic hegemony will cause them to invade and seize the wealth of Greenland.

North Korea, Dear Leader is nearly spent and needs one last grand gesture before the idiot son/nephew's handlers take charge...

Second guess, Al Qaeda in Europe.

It is possible if they make a successful launch of the ding-dong-2. My guess it is for bargaining. After all, it is more about regime survival than war.

Eventually Obama is going to need a scapegoat to divert the nation's attention away from his incompetence.
