Chicago Litogether 2009

I am not sure what you have to do, But I am sure you can handle it.

I still have to finish the rest of the decorations for the talent show tomorrow (am applying twinkling lights to a side curtain to highlight the soloists. Couldn't do it at school.)

Plus I am finishing daughter's Guilty Gear costume for the Anime Convention she's going to attend on Saturday. The hat needs work. Hubby is taking daughter and friends, all going in costume. (except hubby - this time.)

What's this Litogether stuff I have to do again?

Ummm. Wow. I was going to point out the trolley service for downtown but it has been discontinued for 2009. Damn. I loved that trolley. :(

Unless you're walking to Navy Pier (which I wouldn't advise) or taking a taxi, the only other offer they have for transportation assistance is this:

Navy Pier Trolley
Navy Pier offers daily free trolley service between Navy Pier and State Street along Grand Avenue and Illinois Street.

Which means you'll either have to walk to State Street or Illinois Street (both are still quite a walk).

Damn damn damn. :(

Chicago Metra offers a $5 weekend pass. You can ride in and out of the city as much as you wish, as long as you don't lose your ticket. This will take you to Union Station.

From Union Station, there are still many things within walking distance. Sears Tower, Art Museum, Millenium Park, and Michigan Avenue (lots of shopping there ;) ).

What you decide to do will depend on what your likes and tastes are. I can try to help answer questions if you have any. :)

Hmmmm if I remember right, course this was '05, there was a bus station not too far away from there.

Isn't there a metro card that allows you to use the trains/busses all day for one flat fee?

I may very well be wrong on this count, but the metra card is for the metra only. If I recall correctly, there is another pass you can get once you're downtown that gives you unlimited access to the "L" and buses.

you are correct

Doesn't one of the lines run from the airport to downtown somewhere? Blue line, I'm thinking?

Yes it does. And there are several stops downtown that one can get off at along the Blue Line depending on where all they want to go.

Transportation in Chicago

Yes - The Blue Line runs from downtown out to O'Hare. There are tickets you can get that give you unlimited rides for 1 or more days on the CTA buses and trains (not Metra trains). If anyone has any touristy questions, let me know as I work near the airport. From reading some of the posts sounds like a fun weekend.

Oh yes. Gizz and I spent months there when his job had him on the road and we STILL didn't see everything we wanted to. ;)

There are a lot of places like that that I have been to... I think they do it on purpose so you come back again and again and spend more money :D
