Enough Already!!

Brussels with chestnuts sounds exceptional! I'll have to try that. Y'just steam them all together and call it a dish? Or do you prepare the chestnuts by boiling separately and then drizzle them over the steamed Brussels?

ummm i bought a precooked pack  threw them in at the last minute with the Brussel sprouts to heat them and then drained and served.

Brussel sprout lovers unite! I will happily share my brussels :D

 Love, love, love the brussels  The recipe there is very easy (saute 2 and 1/2 pounds steamed-tender brussels [halved if you like] in some canola oil for 3-4 minutes till browned, add one shallot, one garlic clove chopped fine, saute for another minute or so, then add the zest one orange and a tablespoon of thyme leaves. Off the heat, add quarter cup Grand Mariner--which should flame, let flames subside, add tablespoon butter, serve). And it's actually called "The Only Way I'll Eat 'Em" Brussels recipe. Created by someone who didn't like brussels so you can imagine how great it is for those of us who do like 'em. I made this recipe for a guy who said he didn't care for brussels, and he loved 'em.

It's even easier now that you can steam the brussels up in a microwave rather than having to cook them on a stove top before tossing them into the pan.

Damn, that looks good! I'll have to change all the orange to either tangerine or tangelo for HM's allergies but once I'm recovered enough to start cooking again . . .

I've never had green bean casserole...in fact i dont think i've ever had a casserole...i dont understand what one is...

Brussels Sprouts are the foulest veggie on the planet...eww ewww!

I dont like green pepper either, or tomatoes- coz of the seedy bit inside, i also hate augergine (eggplant?), courgettes (zuchini)...

I love brocoli and peas and cabbage and cauliflower and sweetcorn and carrots etc etc...

I like NORMAL vegetables...:D :p

I'm with Wierd Harold and Safe Bet on this one. Keep those brussels and their sprouts away from me. Now broccoli and cauliflower I love. People and what turns on/off their tastebuds is quite an intriguing subject.

I once had Brussels Sprouts with home made mayonnaise sauce. Wonderful and very surprising!

And though I normally don't want to be in the same room with cauliflower, in India they make a recipe for it with onions and tomatoes that is absolutely stunning.

So I guess that with enough imagination almost anything can be made good to eat.

Zuchini isn't bad. Not to eat, but for... other things!

(Eggplant isn't bad either, but you have to work up to it! )

What a bunch of pervs! How do you know I wasn't talking about using it as a garnish!

So why is it I'd have to work my way up to "eggplant garnish"? Is it more difficult to achieve than zucchini garnish somehow?

Please explain in detail.

Eggplant slut.

Coz garnishes are edible, and you said 'not to eat' :p

Have you ever heard that joke about the difference between parsley and pussy?

People actually eat pussy!
;)

I feel no need to explain all of my garnishing secrets to a Brussel Sprout Slut.

At least answer my email, if you're gonna be so useless to me in the garnishing department.

i like it :D

Your cat like greenbean casserole?

Never had it. Honestly. No holiday meal I've ever been to has ever had it on the menu and if one did that I can't recall, well, I didn't eat it. I'm not a big greenbean fan myself. My fave holiday veggie recipe are brussel sprouts, steamed tender, then sautéed in a little oil with shallots and garlic, orange zest and thyme. Saute with a little salt till lightly browned, remove from heat, add a quarter cup grand mariner and, when the flames subside, a tablespoon of butter. Toss and serve.

Yummy.
I'm inviting myself over for dinner:kiss:

Our apricot toy poodle loves broccoli. She finished off the rest of mine last night, a lovely broccoli chowder I tried for the first time. It was good with hunks of warm sourdough bread.

I can top that, I've never heard of it before today.
Never heard of green bean casserole either.
Ya'll MUST be pulling my leg! Brussels sprouts? OMG, If I want to eat cabbage, I'll wait till it grows up, damnit!

Those things should be locked away with the other mutant veggies like rutabagas and parsnips!
What? Brussels sprouts are cute. :cattail:

Cloudy, if your mother made it, we should all be lined up with dishes in our outstretched hands! Drooooooool . . .

Southern cookin' . . . Wow!
