Winter Holidays (and 10th Anniversary Special!)
themes: winter holiday traditions (dreidels, gift giving, etc.), cold weather (snow), holiday mythology (Santa, elves), etc.
starts: November 10
closes: December 7
winners announced: December 14

Oh no! Halloween hasn't happened yet but the new contest is on the way. Ho! Ho! Ho!

As before, this thread is to encourage authors to write and enter, to support them when the muses fly away, to sympathise when trolls attack, and to shamelessly beg for votes.

For anyone who hasn't entered a themed Literotica contest before:

The advantages are that once you enter, your entry and all your writing gets more attention, votes, feedback and PCs than it would otherwise get. You also get support from members of the Author's Hangout.

The disadvantages are that you will also attract unwelcome attention from trolls and unenlightened critics. The sweeps of duplicated and illegal votes can cause heartbreak. It can be a bumpy ride. If you want to know HOW bumpy, read one of the previous support threads e.g. Halloween.

If you really want your writing to improve, critics will be a factor. Entering a themed Literotica contest is one of the easier ways to get noticed.

If in doubt, go for it. You have nothing to lose but your virginity, and if you haven't lost it yet, what are you doing here?

Og

PS. And you could be eligible for the Author's Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest and win nothing but the awe and esteem of your fellow-writers.

PPS. You can read my How-To: Entering a Themed Literotica Contest (If I don't plug my own advice, who will?) There are many other pieces of good advice in the How-To section of Literotica.

As usual lately, I don't have the slightest inkling of an idea right now.

Halloween turned out pretty good starting that way, though. Crossin' me fingers.

Well I have won last place in two contests... I may dust off the pencils and paper and see what comes up

*groan*

And as I groan, I am reading Elizabetht's quote in her sig - "we must embrace pain...".

I bet myself I will not write an entry. I have a fetish for xmas decorations, but not that kind of fetish :D

I have written the first draft of five of my fifteen fifty-word stories/essays for Christmas.

That's not helping my NaNoWriMo output very much.

Missed the Scarefest, but who knows? I might actually post one this year, if my job's extra hours don't keep me too busy and exhausted. ;)

I've got a story for a bleak winter's tale with a happy ending. I don't know if I'll get it done, though. It's emotionally messy.

Methinks I'll do an Erotic Horror story for the contest this year. :D

Hey, blood's red. That's a holiday color.

crud and the muses are just not cooperating. Since my name is mud here anyway (to some) I am not sure I should try...
Good Luck every one! :D
I might make it, I might not, all depends on the brains ability to function that long...

Just had a story idea for th contest nd hopefully will get a chance to get it ritten this week. Would be nice to have it posted near the first day so that people will get a chance to read it before the contest becomes full of entries again.

There probably won't be as many this time because of NaNo.

That's probably a good thing. The Halloween page was a mess to find stories on. You're probably sitting this one out anyways after your recent win. Congrats btw.

Thank you. :)

Actually, I hadn't planned on winning, so I already have a holiday story done.

Jesus Christ!

"God Damn it! Son-of-a-bitch! Dirty bastards!"

Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in. Fuck!

I had no desire to write a Winter Holiday Contest story after powers that be banned multiple chapter submissions and I had a good one to submit, too. It was a mere 75 chapters.

Anyway...my Dad's last wish on his deathbed was for me to tell the real story the true story about...well, you'll find out soon enough when I submit what my Dad, BOSTONREALITYWRITER, wrote.

Your name is not mud, we love you and it would be great to have new story from you. I like your writing - pretty please:cattail:

That's the first I've heard your name is mud around here. I've always liked you. You are kind of cute.

Thank you. :)

You know...since you've already won a contest with the Halloween entry and, I mean, I'm only trying to help you, uhm, I could post your story under my name.

Shit...can everyone else see what I'm writing? Hey, I thought this was a private thread. I thought this thing was like a voting booth, once I pulled the curtain.

Never mind about the story. I was only kidding. (e-mail me the story okay?)

You can still submit it just as one submission. It might be long but then it would fit nicely in the novels/novellas category. You don't have to seperate all your submissions into such miniscule chapters.

Unlike the 750-1,000 word stories that you write, I don't write miniscule chapters. Most of my chapters are 3,000 words with some as many as 5,000 words. You must have my writing confused with your writing.

The medication that you are apparently on will do that.
