Faggots, niggers and kikes.

Using the term retard is not necessarily offensive to the recipient, much the same as calling someone who is stupid, stupid. But it is to the PC observer, who then feels the need to exhibit outrage in the recipients place.

you're no fun at all to argue with.

too tired and I should be working anyway

next time you meet a 'retard', ask them huh?

Sometimes, I do wish there was a 'PC' word in place of retard that could be used for people who make ignorant assertions.

Constantly redefining terms at the whim of what is currently considered colloquially acceptable just confuses everyone.

And now I am out of "c's".

i like 'imbecile' or 'ignoramus' :)

None of which are in my usual vocabulary.

But we're not scared of it.

Use it, I'll take the piss.
You left off, "Oh my!"

That's an essential part of the American Wizard of Oz chant, which you ripped off, "Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!"

If you Brits want to rip off the Yanks, do it proudly, not like the cowardly Australians.

the posts made by bert are the reason really. Some people you just can't argue with, because they actually don't care about how their behaviour impacts on others or, maybe they are just unable to see because they lack imagination.

i like 'imbecile' or 'ignoramus' :)

imbecile is another medical classification (along with moron and idiot). Ignoramus, though... that I could use. Fairly easy to define and not based on biomedical discourse. Ignorfuckingamus, or just ramus for short.

I'll try it.

Bert, you are a ramus. :D

I'm not sure who Sean is talking about here, but only really racist and reactionary people in the uk use that kind of language and you will get your head kicked in.

I suspect he was just pissed and shit stirring.

Actually, it came out of my gay marriage thread. Language can be offensive, but I refuse to be told what words I can or cannot use.

As for retard, I've never heard it used in a medical sense. I've had this argument with KRC and Reci before. To me it's synonymous with moron. I'd never dream of using it about someone with learning disabilities.

The N word and subsequent slangs used today, were first used as racial slurs. Point, blank, PERIOD. I don't use it in my daily vocabulary because I personally find it offensive to be called such. So for a vast majority of users on here to enjoy its use or casually toss it out, they're just as ignorant as the ones who invented it centuries ago. Oh, and NO it does not make it okay to use it if you're tossing an A at the end of it. I'll admit, I have a few white friends who toss the word around jokingly, but never AT me. It just seems like the word is being tossed around AT the subject and not just being used in a genral sense.
The word itself is just pure ignorance, and anyone can be an ignorant mofo. Black, white, yellow, red, green, doesn't matter. But to use it to describe a whole race of people is unprofessional and just shows that you really have no moral character whatsoever. Kike, Spic, Paki, all of it is just as immoral and wrong if you're using these words to deface an entire people. I don't care if you want to toot your horn about freedom of speech. There are limits and when it becomes offensive, that's when you should back your snaggled toothed, sibling fucking, tobacco dipping ass, OFF.
I would dare to say that most users on here don't find it offensive to use such words because they've never been called them or discriminated against because of race. I know it's hard to walk that mile in someone else's shoes, so we won't even go there. Just try to think of a moment where someone blatantly disrespected you and how outraged you felt. Maybe you were called a "cheating bastard" by an ex, or " a womanizing piece of shit" by your wife. I'm sure it brought your mood down a couple notches. So magnify the intensity of that feeling and apply it to racial slurs being used. And if that doesn't work, imagine getting your ass thoroughly stomped by a gang of Kikes, N*ggers, Spics, Pakis or whatever. Maybe that will change your pathetic tune.

you're welcome.
i now all sorts of good abusive terms. one of them was bound to fit the bill.
The N word

Kike, Spic, Paki,

Kikes, N*ggers, Spics, Pakis or whatever.

that's the one!!!

the n word, or n*gger.

though i see you didn't feel the need to type k*ke, p*ki or sp*c.
...obviously you're a bit racist.

tut tut.

How the fuck should I know? I don't know any straight, white, Christian Britons.

You're doing it again. Stop confusing "scared of" with "offended by".

Anyway, you know he's just doing this to stir shit, right?
People in America are scared of the words because they know people are offended by them. And because some find them personally offensive.

Like a white guy might want to say to his other white friend "Hey, I just saw some niggers at the store" but is afraid to because his friend might be offended by it.

Anyway, I have no idea why SeanH does anything anymore. He really makes it hard to like him.

You can't use racial slurs to refer to people, especially "nigger." This is your notice.

I don't use them to refer to people. I'd never call anyone any of those terms. However, I find typing n*gger or "the n word" to be ridiculous. Does placing an asterisk for the "i" somehow make the word less offensive? If so, why?

stop being a c*nt.

see? it's ok now!

Good, that's all I ask.

It's not ridiculous, although I can see why you don't want to do it. I don't do it. It isn't necessary. Everyone knows what the word is.

But it's also one of the most offensive words in the English language. Its use reminds people of centuries of oppression and discrimination, which is only now starting to fade away in this country enough to consider electing a man who is half-black. Although, IMHO, the racism that still flows through America's veins is responsible for McCain doing as well as he is.

Anyway, surely you can understand that not writing the word in its entirety is like removing the word altogether.

I've seen The Vagina Monologues. I've reclaimed the word cunt. I own it. I love my cunt. The word has no power to offend me.

Yet, arguably, racial slurs carry far more weight. It's not the word or the label in and of itself...it's the idea that the words represent. The issues of race and inequality is still a gaping wound in the US, and the use of the words have the effect of pouring salt in that wound. If the wound was healed, the salt would have no effect.

Thank god. I like calling a woman's vagina by as many words as I can think of.

but using an * doesn't change that.
nor typing the n word.
the meaning remains the same.
it's a bad word to use as a weapon but race riots won't erupt if i ask you what the origins of the word 'nigger' are.
to fear a word just gives it more power.

Anyway, surely you can understand that not writing the word in its entirety is like removing the word altogether.

No, I don't understand that. If anything, it makes the word more prominent.

The issue isn't the use of any of these words, it's the reduction of a person to any of them. We can argue about a parking spot, and it's an argument between two people. As soon as nigger/spic/kike/cunt enters into the conversation (aimed at the usual recipient of such a slur, of course) it's no longer an argument. It's a castration.

The word itself is meaningless. It's its power to diminish the target of it to something less than a person that carries the devastation.

This is rich! One of the most insulting and objectional members getting all politically correct on our asses. Those spots won't change.
