I'm curious to know if anyone has received any formal D/s (or full BDSM)training in a formal House in which you've entered in to a contractual agreement for a period of time.

The style of House not important, i.e. Oriental, German, European, Ecclectic, etc. I am more interested in the formal aspect of your training, where (city) you received it, and what your experience was like.

Such things are wonderful fantasies only for me. *sigh*

I have never had any formal training or been in service to anyone except Uncle Sam. Well, okay, I have had formal training through the various schools and law enforcement agencies I've been involved with also, but not in any BDSM sense.

All my "training" has been through presentations, demonstrations, events, parties, one-on-one sessions, and OJT with those who have agreed to scene with me or to be in service to me. I've been a member of various groups over the years, from Austin, TX, to Charleston, SC. I've attend events from Texas Leather Pride to April Bash, I've played at places like It's Outback, 1763, and by good fortune, The Sanctuary of a Dark Angel in Atlanta, GA while it was still open.

Sorry I can't point you in the direction of any secret leather "Houses", I don't know of any, never been invited to join one. I know some Leather Families, but they don't put on those kind of airs. They're just plain folks who have a common bond and love for one another that seems to me to be at least as strong as the bonds I've ever seen in most blood related families.

Good luck in your search!

The existence of these "Houses" is doubted by most of the remaining Old Guard scene in the US.

Me, too, Furry!!! I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't just a big ol' myth. A bunch of folks from different parts of the globe getting together to make up wonderful and beautiful takes for the sole purpose of torturing me. A conspiracy, if you will.

This was my thought as well Netzach. But I could never say for sure so I figured I'd ask here and see if I could be surprised.

You'd think someone would start one. I imagine there are many people who would love to be completely immersed in such an environment for a time.

There is one commercial place that seems to have a good reputation outside of Albany NY which provides this kind of immersion experience.

Google "La Domaine Esemar" I can't vouch for it on a personal basis, per se, but it seems interesting and some of my professional contacts have great things to say.

I guess you could say I have, in so much as the lady who lead the group I started with (SE Ohio area) required anyone new to the scene to learn how to play safely before they were allowed to attend a group munch, let alone a party. It took several months, most of a year actually, two to three times a month doing scenes with a sub while she supervised; made sure you knew how to safely use a crop, tie a knot, preperly rig a tension set-up, etc.
*Nods* - sounds pretty formal to me...
I think I am in the wrong country for this discussion... but there is a "formal club", which offers training and indulgence, in our city. Haven't been there. My s.o and I are pretty shy about what goes on behind closed doors and we struggle to fit into any BDSM communities because we don't fit into any power exchange - and besides, they seem to be a really stiff and formal bunch, which we are not...

*shrugs*
