Let Your Geek Flag Fly!

I'm having an ongoing flirtation, he's very intelligent and we chat for 5 or 6 hours at a time. We talk about sex and too many other topics to count. He's very geeky, which I think makes him even more sexy!

Do you have a sister. LOL.

Much like Festivus has the airing of the grievances, Halloween has its pumpkin carving! So, in honor of the holiday, I am off to butcher a big orange vegetable.

Anyone else into Jack-O-Lantern creating? :D

This is one of the funnest posts ever about butchering a big orange vegetable. LOL.

*gasp* as the token thread vegetarian I have to protest! Vegetables are not for taking one's anger out on! (No seriously, I don't carve pumpkins anymore because my children think it's time to throw the innards at each other so we stick to foam pumpkins for the time being).

foam pumpkins are the way to go Wings! especially if you have little ones scampering around.

happy weds to all! 48 hrs until the greatest night on earth:D

Plus they make excellent weapons when you're in a pinch and you need to teach a 6 year old a lesson! (she smarts off and tends to be sarcastic, I have NO idea where she gets it from)

I would think so, I played paintball this weekend and I had a brief thought of just using pumpkins, but the foam ones would have worked as well. Hmm. That's a thought.

There is a festival in/around Delaware called Punkin Chunkin, it's this weekend. A GREAT time, I wish I was there this year. They have these HUGE contraptions that launch the pumpkins a great distance. It's all very cool and totally geeky.

i saw that! it was featured in a show on the travel channel about halloween festivities the other night. they said the record for longest toss was almost a mile!! ive thought about building a mini trebuchet to deliver candy to the trick-or-treaters in my neighbor hood. my friend told me that wouldnt end well. i say he's a pessimist!

I agree with you! What's a lost eye when you're having fun? I thought most kids expected that these days.

exactly! its not fun unless its EXTREME!!! and whats more extreme than a pack of smarties traveling at speeds exceeding 50 miles an hour? i figure the kids will be quick enough to get their candy bags up in defense and by doing that will actually catch the flying candies.

God yes, absolutely kids should be coordinated enough to catch like that. And if they're not, well then it's their own fault. Should have ducked.

Scarily, the true geek in me admits that I also caught that same travel channel bit! Optimism rules!

Well, technically it was already dead so I was just just aiding in its metamorphosis into a more beautiful state! Hey, at least I got a *gasp* :D

I think pumpkins would be a much beter alternative... especially for the less fleet of foot folks. If you can't dodge a huge orange ball, something's not quite right...

Has anyone read anything by Orson Scott Card? He lives in a town near me, and recently put out a comic book/graphic novel of his first major novel, Ender's Game. He was signing copies of it tonite at a store, starting at 6pm. I get off work at 7, and head over post haste, only to find that the store closed at 7, and no one was around.:(

Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read the novel 'Ender's Game' and it is excellent. Outstanding military sci-fi stuff. 'Past Watch - The Redemption of Christopher Columbus' is also very good.

It would be good for their gross motor skils . . . if the candy is small it might be good for their fne motor skills too!
