I'm interested to know what people consider as proof of testing these days.

Do you trust the other person when they say they're current?
A form from the clinic with the date on it?

Thanks!

As with pretty much everything, you can only trust what the other person says. It IS illegal to knowingly expose someone to HIV, so if someone knows they are positive and lies about it, that's a crime - doesn't matter if the other person is actually infected. Of course, that's only for HIV, there's plenty of other STDs you can get. But you can only trust what someone tells you.

There has been talk of ID cards, status cards, etc. So far nothing is official or widespread. So mostly it's just your instincts.

My partner and I bareback...but we are monogamous and have been tested a few times over the last 5 years.

If I were single again and picking up guys for casual sex, I would simply assume everyone is a risk. Because they are.

Oral is pretty low risk ...but once you start fucking, going bareback, regardless of your hook-up's claimed HIV status, is insane.

So no, unless I have followed them around from the week before when they took the Tests, I'm not taking chances no matter what they produce.

That's just me though. There is risk in everything we do and we each have to assess things as they come. I certainly don't think it's "the done thing" to have unsafe sex simply because someone has a piece of paper that says they are clean.

Can I make an observation here?

I have noticed over the years that Bi guys (especially the married ones out cheating on their wives) seem to really go for Bareback with the strangers they fuck.

Why is this? Do they think because they are not "gay" that they are immune to HIV and other nasties?

Is it because at home with the wife they go raw and can't contemplate fucking with a rubber on...even with total strangers from a beat etc?

Excellent question, LoboBoy. Your suggested reasons certainly seem plausible to me.

Don't forget, HIV can be dormant for 6 months. So even if someone tests negative, keep using protection for 6 months (even if you're now monogamous) and then have them take another test.

I agree that barebacking with anyone is an extremely risky proposition, regardless of status, so I'm not interested in knowing HIV status so I know whether to protect or not. I'm more interested in know HIV status to know whether to even have sex with someone or not. It's just me, but I'd be extremely apprehensive with having sex with anyone who's positive; there are just too many things that could go wrong to risk exposure. Of course, I'm also saying that as a married bi male. If I were single and gay, I might have a different perspective on this.

As a bisexual guy with an unfulfilled longing to become a cocksucker, should the opportunity arise (pun intended) to fulfill my desire (and my mouth), what precautions, if any, would you suggest?

Make sure you don't have any cuts, sores, or other problems with your mouth. Don't brush your teeth first, it opens up tiny rips in the gum line and that can be dangerous. If you are confident that your mouth is cut-free, and you have asked the other guy if he's clean, suck away!

What about halitosis? Or is sperm an effective mouthwash?

Unless the halitosis is a symptom of something else, it won't have an effect.

I've also heard not to eat things like potato chips or the like for the same reason before hand...
