Just for once, government seems to have got the right response, 'we don't know what's happening here, so let's ignore it.'

Apparently 1991 was a big year for UFO sightings in the UK. I was baking long brown baguettes at the time, they were flying out of the oven at about 120 per hour... I guess a few might have been mistaken for UFO's.

Anyone actually seen one?

Anyone actually been abducted... other than in some bizarre role play experience?

I'm willing to wager $100 no one has been tentacle f**ked :D

those aren't normally aliens so much as interdimensional demons ;)

My older brother claimed to see a UFO when he was younger and staying over a friend's house, but I have never seen anything that wasn't probably a plane, helicopter, blimp, or satellite.

Ah Great! UFO reports!

Yeah, I saw one. Never been abducted, never been tentacled. I still don't believe what I saw though, so I don't like talking about it. But I love hearing about them, and the more insane, the better.

Did you know that in north America and Northern Europe more women are abducted than men, and in South America more men are abducted than women? In South America men are abducted for sex. :D

As to the first... yeh, but let's spice it up a little. Hell $100 for evidence that someone has screwed an octopus is worth its weight :D

Me too. Most disappointing.
Last month (or August), during the Leonoids meteor shower, we saw around twenty shooting starts in a few minutes... best I've seen for a long time. Not one of the wishes came true, not even the 20th, I'd got down to finding £20 note in an old suit pocket.

I'd like to be abducted. I hang around on unlit grassy patches at night waiting to be abducted, but usually get arrested... I guess I should dress...

No matter where this places me on The Nut Scale around here, I am going to admit that I am a true believer in alien contact. I think Men in Black is real. So there! I am throwing off my shame cloak and baring my breast to the world, at least the AH world. LOL

Good for you!

I think I'm and alien, but then so do most people who know me :D

PS: Stop pissing around, K. This is supposed to be serious.

I too believe that we've been visited by ETs. Accounts of sightings predate Christianity and have been documented in paintings and writings, including The Bible. I think a good percentage (90% or more) of sightings can be explained away as other things, but some simply can't and even if a fraction of 1% of these sightings are of alein craft, well -- that's something. When you examine abduction cases like Betty & Barney Hill and Travis Walton, or look at the analysis if supposed implants that have been removed from experiencers it's hard to ignore the evidence. I think that simply dismissing these people as unsound or liars is ignoring the evidence of unbiased witnesses and polygraph tests that they've passed after being deemed sane by psychologists. What's more, when you consider the billions and billions (say like Carl Sagan) of stars and planets in the universe, the chances of ours being the only one with intelligent life is pretty slim.

Epiphany, I agree whole heartedly. I was amazed by both the Hill story and the Travis Walton ordeal. Since watching the movie of his experience, I can see more clearly the two basic types of people on this earth. The cocoon dwellers, like on the mother ship, and the people who are not afraid of busting out of the cocoon, no matter what lies ahead, aka Travis. Too many cocoon dwellers around here for my taste, but finding other cocoon busters is not always an easy task.

I heard an interview with Travis W. a few months back and he came off as sane and quite intelligent. His story hasn't changed one bit over the years, nor have the accounts of his co-workers who witnessed the event and found him afterwards. Now, some would say that this is a conspiracy on the part of him and the guys who witnessed it all, but Travis is not on speaking terms with one of the men anymore -- they got into a fist-fight years ago and hate one another. This guy has a good motive to call Travis a liar, but even he stands by the account of Travis and the others. Betty Hill claimed to have been told by the aliens aboard their ship where they came from. She pointed to a region in the sky and told investigators that there was a star in a certain quadrant in space where the aliens' planet is. People laughed at her till decades later when astronomers discovered a planet there revolving around a star they had never seen before.

Yes, Travis is a sane and reasoning individual who had a bizarre experience and lived to tell the tale. I wonder why the aliens allowed him to return to earth. They could have just offed him and we would not be having this discussion right now.

Good question. There's been a lot of speculation as to their motives, including why they abduct people in the first place. A lot of people in The US alone go missing every year and are never found. Many, or most, of them could have been murdered, taken as slaves in other countries, or whatever, but maybe the ETs don't release everyone...

It's an exercise in communication, AC.

The first rule of communication is to have a minimum understanding of the the communicator. If one doesn't understand Chinese, one doesn't know what a Chinese person is speaking about other than communicable gesture, one of which is leaving you unharmed.

Abduction, if it takes place, strikes me as serving the same function. 'We haven't harmed you, therefore we don't mean you any harm.'

Time scales may be different for abducter and abductee, what seems to us to be long intervals between 'abductions' may be entirely different to the abductors.

Very true, or at least plausible. Many abductees experience periods of time that they can't account for. They've proven Einstein's theory that the faster you travel, the more time slows down relative to us staying stationary on earth, so that might account for missing time.

According to Travis's account, there were beings in those other cocoons who were slowly consumed by the collective whatever. That one he rebounded into was half corpse, as I recall.

My question here is why a being would allow themselves to be consumed when the alternative is simply punching through the cocoon wall, something all humans must feel as they emerge through a womb? Maybe those other beings were not human, but a more docile form of life?

I cannot answer my questions and do not expect a real explanation from others, but the cause and effect of docility does occupy my thoughts often. Here in America, that is. I thought we were a nation of revolutionists or, at the very least, cocoon busters?

I think that most people want, if not need, stability. Because of this they rarely do anything to tamper with that and resist it when others do. We're sort of like the proverbial frog in the pot of steadily warming water; it's our cocoon. Sometimes we only react once the water begins to boil, but then it's too late.

Oh man, I sooooo wish I could talk about my former job for the Air Ministry...I used to investigate reports of "atmospheric phenomena" but unfortunately my signature is still on the documents pertaining to the Official Secrets Act & even though the law was replaced I can still go to jail for it...

However, in my current job I interviewed a woman who said that her child was an alien/human hybrid (he was ginger - but so is my brother in law & he's not an alien...I think) and refused to complete a claim for Child Support as a result of it. Oddly enough the interior of the space ship looked like a room at the travel lodge down the road from the pub she had been in on the night of her experience. In hindsight it's a smidge sad really...

All I will say is RAF West Freugh, April, 1957!

Were you stationed in Luce Bay?

I figure the aliens aren't contacting us openly because they're waiting for us to mature into a truly intelligent species, rather than the bad fake we are now.

Plus we're providing hours and hours of prime time comedy.

Xnarph: Did you see what the humans were up to last night?

Klxxkl: I know! Hilarious! Killing one another over which version of a Great Person In The Sky exists. I nearly jgpo'd myself!

They are confused by the jack o latern on your belly. He He.

Were you stationed in Luce Bay?

Nope - my Uncle was at the time & was one of the civilian radar operators and I've read the reports that were filed concerning the radar reports. The full documents are due to be released around 2017 - they had a 60-yr disclosure bar placed on them.

The CO told people that he thought it was a reflection from a thunder storm over Luce Bay - but that problem had been resolved years ago in the equipment they were using, plus that type of reflection breaks up over the course of a couple of sweeps - you never get the same signature consecutively...

RAF Cosford in the 1980s is quite interesting as well, along with some of the stuff seen in the late 90s in Scotland...

Starscream,

Thanks for the tip about RAF West Freugh, April, 1957. Now I will look up the next one, RAF Cosford in the 1980s, and see what that brings.

There are so many accounts it is ridiculous that the U.S. Governmet can't admit it. I liked the article by a retired minister in Canada asking when the U.S. was going to reveal the technology that it gained from the crashed alien ships in their possession, one can only guess Area 51, which is supposed to look alot like Men in Black. Really. It is our American interstellar terminal.

I have no doubt that 90% of things sighted by people are either mis-identified or people seeing things they want to see...however, from personal experience there's 10% that you cannot explain as anything other than unidentified.

Now, we know that the US used several bases as testing grounds for experimental technologies in Europe as well as the US mainland - the F117A was being flown out of an air base in Scotland in the late 80s & early 90s - so it's possible that the Scottish sightings could be some next-generation aircraft (the mythical Aurora maybe???)...

But that doesn't cover all of them...and now I'll shut up - I still work for the Government & I'd like to get my pension at some point!!! :)
