A hedge fund owner (Sorta political)

Except that when he was making money . . . wasn't he being a heartless scum? I'm not up on this, all my investments being in annuities, the safe kind, but I kinda wonder.

Yes, and he says so in the second para, and that he realised he couldn't continue that way.

Wish I'd thought of that! I was, in many ways, an asshole as a young adult-- but not in any way that was so lucrative. ;)

I hate what I do and will get out after I make my ninth million.

The interesting thing is that my step-father-in-law offered to get me a job in a Wall Street brokerage when I got out of the Army. The only catch was that I'd have to relocate to San Diego. Now I like San Diego but I wasn't too hot on being right next to him. Besides, I'd already bought a house up thisaway across the street from my parents so it didn't happen. What would have happened if I'd done it? Who knows but I've always been a fan of Warren Buffet's approach to investing . . .

I love what I do, and I doubt I'll ever see my first million.

So you can pay for the coffee. ;)

I love what I do and will never make a million, either, but I touch lives every day that will hopefully make the world a better place tomorrow. And I'll happily pay for the coffee . . . not to mention the B&B to put in it!

I probably won't either, but we're maxing out retirement in a gallant effort. I sometimes think about life decision points - an attorney who handled a lawsuit for me when I was in my twenties offered to pay for law school for me (I would have been an indentured servant for a time), but by then I was off in a different direction; a thesis committee member in grad school offered to help me 'get' into a certain PhD program at Vanderbilt, but I was tired of school at that point and life happened and it's worked out quite well given the effort extended. Though I do find myself a bit jealous of a lawyer friend who does a lot of driving violations and lower level stuff. He probably makes 250k plus or minus and knocks off at 2pm, off on Fridays. Clearly, I didn't do my homework.

So...here's your coffee Stella, VM...sugar, kahlua, whiskey? :)

I'm studying to be a famous serial killer. After I'm famous and on the Oprah Show maybe I'll retire.

Those were the years when you couldn't take two steps without tripping over a new millionaire...

And we'd never have known you here.
