I played trumpet today. With my braces.
Bloodied the insides of my lips.
It's my own damn fault.
I haven't tried to acclimate my embouchure with braces, to any instrument, really. I'm stubborn. I just want the things gone.
But the kids needed assistance, and I played the way I usually do.
Loudly.
(Ow.)
Use some wax next time. :caning:
Hmmm.... wax...
When I had braces it was a (long) while ago and they were like traintracks with metal bands around your teeth. I even had the pleasure of wearing head gear to bed (but kept taking it out in my sleep).
Aren't braces less... um... obtrusive physically and visually now? I haven't really checked them out in *coughs* years.
Well, yeah.
I have the train track kind. And the night time headgear.
And I just got lectured to at my last appointment because I haven't been wearing my rubber bands.
You know, I never needed these when I was a kid. It sucks that I night time ground my teeth out of alignment.

I just hope it'll be over soon.
(They're almost paid for - this should be over soon!)
They are...now they're plastic and practically invisible...but the good ol' wire ones are still in use too...Damn, I hated those things. Wires stuck in your gums, brushing your teeth was nigh well impossible... couldn't eat apples, corn on the cob, chicken wings...kids called you 'Brace Face' and 'Metal Mouth'...what a PITA.![]()
And then, when you finally got rid of them and moved on to a retainer, you got called "Monorail" and talked like Daffy Duck till you get used to the damned thing..

Well whatever you do don't do the experiments my brother and I did.
Don't test a Nine Volt Battery by hooking leads from the battery to the upper and lower braces. (My brother.)
Don't try to eat out a young lady who is very active. (Me.)
Cat
Why leads, just touch the 9 volt to the upper and lower braces. Causes a blue flash out of the mouth about a foot long and feels like a baseball bat hits the back of your head.![]()
Hmmmm. So THAT explains it....
Either that...or seeing as how he's a prior mechanic from the Navy...I'd wonder if he got one of the favorite electricians tricks pulled on him. -grins- putting a charged capacitor in their toolbox hehehehe
Hey, be nice to the Navy guys! My dad used to say that they were the best chauffeurs he ever had (He was a Marine)![]()
