For those of you who don't already know, yesterday while taking a nap (during my charge, Cooper's nap) someone broke into the house I work. I happened to hear a security sensor chime and thought I left the back door ajar- the wind blowing it open and triggering the sensor. I got up, in my sleepy migraine state, and went to shut the door. As I entered the keeping room, a man grabbed me from behind and slammed me to the floor. I apparently passed out from the impact because the next thing I remember was a policeman asking me if I was ok, while he was cutting my hands free. The house was cleared of all the electronics and fine art. The authorities seem to think it was someone who has been in the house before and knew where things were. Thank God Cooper slept through the whole ordeal and I only suffered a mild concussion. The whole thing happened in a matter of minutes, they tell me, because the burglar was gone before the cops answered a call from the neighbor about a suspicious van behind the house. No finger prints, no trace of anything. I was taken to the hospital and treated for the concussion (rolls eyes) and they did a SOEC on me 'just to be sure'. I'm still reeling a bit from the whole thing and really don't know how to feel. I've just started crying now and I can't help but feel very sad. I would think I should feel angry, but mostly I'm just scared. It was hard to sleep last night, because every little sound woke me up. Even the cat in the other room woke me up. I really don't even know why I'm writing this here.... mebbe catharsis? Who knows. At any rate, thanks to those of you who got the text yesterday from Shelly and Lauren from my phone. Your prayers really meant a lot to me.
