I watched Governor Palin's arrival back in Alaska this evening and noted the approval of her home state residents. This lady has struck a note and now a chord that resonates with real Americans everywhere.

The McCain, Palin ticket is going to sweep across the nation in the next eight weeks and you know what, their fundamental message is the same one I voice and have for years on this forum.

Basic down home American values, the ones you hate and ridicule, are suddenly center stage on the political scene and it ain't gonna go away any time soon.

Time and again, AHers with a far more through background in history than mine have refuted Amicus' truthiness with facts, and each time he has either disappeared from the thread or changed the subject. It doesn't take much of a historian or scientist to prove him wrong - just someone whose reading is more inclusive than, say, the Heritage Foundation. But not once, no matter how hard the proof, has he ever admitted an error or even acknowleged that a refutation was posted. (You should see him weave a tale about the history of Judaism and Islam. Even Cecil B. DeMille would be embarrassed.)

Sadly, you cannot reason with a man whose whole philosophy is a defense of his own failures. The success of any black man is seen as a personal affront, because Amicus has never achieved the status that he thinks he is entitled to simply because of his whiteness. He and other leftover Klan types are increasingly surrounded by evidence that whiteness is no longer a free ticket to respect. Whiteness was his strong suit, and it has not won him much. Sorry to contradict you but the commonly held notion that the Ainu are Caucasian is incorrect. This error is based entirely on the facts that they are pale skinned and hairy. Their DNA shows them to have their origins in NE Asia. They are not closely related to Caucasians.

Ok R Richard I won't squabble about it but if you google "Ainu DNA" the first half dozen articles will provide a wealth of evidence on the point and you can come to your own conclusions. I think the link of the Ainu with the original inhabitants of Japan (pre 400BC) is particularly interesting.

You're still off the beam, JBJ. You originally specified that Florida was "colonized" by Jefferson's grandchildren. Tallahassee--which you now identify as the location--was founded in 1824. Jefferson didn't die until 4 July 1826. All of his children and grandchildren (who were still young at that time) were still living in his house when he died (or at Clifton adjoining Monticello).

The only Jefferson descendent who was connected with Tallahasse was his grandson through Maria Jefferson Eppes, John Wayles Eppes, who moved to Florida in 1828, 12 miles outside Tallahassee, four years after Tallahassee was founded. And Florida was a U.S. territory at the time, not a colony--and most who resettled there at the time from U.S. states were from Georgia and the Carolinas, not Virginia.
