It looks like hurricane Ike is taking aim at the Texas coast. Ok, a hurricane can go where ever it wants, but the predicted track is headed for Texas. It should arrive maybe Sunday.

Best wishes for the Texas Literotica people and batten down the hatches.

New Orleans is my place of birth. I'd gladly take this Hurricane instead of it hitting my home town.

If anybody is interested, this is a great data overload composite site of all the hurricane predictions:

My brother just sent me an e-mail......

"Just heard from one of my men with insider knowledge that they will issue a mandatory evacuation for coastal areas of Brazoria county (my county) starting on Wed, then they work their way inland."

He lives in Alvin, around 15 miles s/east of Houston. He's refusing to leave, going to stay at home. He says the last evacuation from New Orleans was a nightmare, so he's staying put.

Fingers crossed he's going to be OK.

Hoo boy! Alvin, TX doesn't seem like a good place to be when Ike comes to call. Ike is liable to be a major hurricane by the time it hits the Texas coast. My best wishes.

I took a look at the projected path...it's going to go right through the biggest part of the loop current in the Gulf. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping real hard that it doesn't stall there because if it does...

Y'all in Texas and Louisiana take care of yourselves, okay? Do what you need to do.

From the track I just looked at I would have to say "Houston, we have a problem"

My BIL & wife live in Houston. They're leaving Thursday to visit her sister in Austin; maybe earlier pending developments.

I'm trying to get family in Pearland, League City, and a couple flood prone areas in Houston to have an impromptu family reunion with me in Dallas.

I lived in Houston in 1983 when Alicia went through. She wrecked downtown, the floods were extensive, and we were without power in NW Houston for 6 days. Not the catastrophy of Katrina, but why take a chance?

My in laws own a house in Austin, right on the lake in Lago Vista:D
Will it be in the lake
Glad they are in Northern NM right now and have the house rented. :)

I mentioned to a guy I work with that Ike was savaging Cuba and I was checking the Cuban newspapers for an obituary. The guy told me, "The obituaries are on the back pges and unlikely to be accessible from the Internet." I told him, "The obituary I'm looking for will be on the front pages, trust me."

It now appear that Ike is predicted to hit further South in Texas, or perhaps even as far South as Mexico. The wait isn't going to be fun.

Latest predictions on Ike have it heading for the south side of Corpus Christie Texas. Luckily south of Corpus is the Kings Ranch. About 5000 square miles with a population of about 168 people and 3 million cows.

I hope you're not offended, but I feel that your dismissal of the cows was rather cavalier. JMHO.

If those cows survive the hurricane, it won't be to go on to live a long, fulfilling life.

Latest e-mail from big bro, says the same:

"It’s projected South of here overnight, the area of King Ranch which is Kennedy county, ain’t much there but beef, rattlers and ‘gators. [daughter] and I drove thro’ there a couple of years ago to South Padre island, 70 miles, no houses, no nothing. We’ll just keep our eye on it in case it turns North, a big high pressure steering at the moment."

Fingers crossed.

I can only hope those who are caught in it's path come through okay.

Oh this is not what I needed to hear just after my friends 'net got cut out... Right, I'm going to go beat my father into letting me make a VERY long distance phonecall...

OK, as of Tuesday 9/9/08 afternoon, Ike's predicted track is now shifting back to the north. Ike is now predicted to make landfall in the middle of the Texas gulf coast and then head North, through the middle of Texas, mostly as a storm and then as a tropical depression.

If you have loved ones or even acquaintances in the path, establish contact NOW! Once the storm hits, no one knows what the conditions will be.

I can only hope that everyone survives with a minimum of property damage, but it doesn't look good. Ike is now leaving Cuba and will likely intensfy over the warm waters of the gulf.

OK, as of Tuesday night, Ike is out in the gulf and picking up speed. Landfall is predicted for the central Texas coast and then up the center of Texas but bearing to the East.

Looks like a nasty one.

OK, as of Wednesday morning, Ike is out in the gulf, back up to 90MPH and picking up speed. Landfall is still predicted for the central Texas coast and then up the center of Texas but bearing to the East.

Ike's speed is up 10MPH overnight and its going to continue to pick up speed as it sucks energy from the warm gulf waters. Batten down the hatches, Texans.

Latest projections put Ike coming ashore about a hundred miles west of Houston. Just east of matagorda bay. It's expected to be a light 4 or a heavy 3 when it makes landfall.

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes. I'm in Austin, and the hurricane is predicted to sweep through here as major rain this weekend. Bravely we have scheduled a football game, a fishing tournament, and a track meet on the same day. :)

Hold on to your hat, Achtung. It's not just major rain. Ike is still supposed to be packing major winds, which of course can always mean the lovely spawn of hurricanes - tornadoes. We are in Dallas, and they are already posting flood and wind warnings for the weekend.

As R.Richard said earlier, Batten down the hatches, Texas. If you are coastal, please find safer ground. If you are inland, just keep an eye on the sky, and be safe.
