Oh! No!

For those too busy to click on the link, the National Enquirer has reported that Palin had a secret affair with her husband's business partner. (The NE was also the first to report on the Edwards affair.)

I got a kick out of the posters on that forum, blaming Obama for smearing Palin. How does that work, exactly? The NE smears Palin, and it's Obama's fault?

And the beat(ing) goes on.

Rumple Foreskin

This explains the story about her in-laws and the firing issue. Maybe she really thinks that anyone who pisses off the women in her family get what they deserve or something.

Be that as it may, it sheds new light on the religious right and its exercise of "family values".

On the other hand, the Left is supposed to be "above" using sexual scandals to attack people. Maybe they need to practice what they preach as well.

Why is it that the Left is being blamed for a story in a sleazy tabloid? Is the National Enquirer considered a propaganda outlet for the Left, the way Fox News is for the Right? I wasn't aware of that.

Granted, there will always be extremists on both the left and right, blogging about this or that, but extremists don't represent a party's ideology, just like abortion clinic bombers don't represent honest Christians.

I'm "the left."

How is this my fault, again?

I thought the Enquirer hated everyone equally, since as Dee said, they were the first to publish about Edward's affair.

I look forward to seeing how the media outlets cover this.

I'm operating under the assumption that someone in the Left is already going after her for this. Human nature makes it a safe assumption.

I do think that to some extent, the religious right is being hoist from their own petards. But if the Left does jump at the bait, they will be going against their own principles (assuming that right to privacy is such a principle) and would be hypocrites.

If I were a liberal, I wouldn't say anything about Governor Palin's hypocrisy in matters moral. I would simply sit back and watch her self-destruct with pleasure.

Hell, as an independent, I might do that, except that I'm still not sure who is a worse VP pick: Governor "Holier Than Thou- Praise The Lord and Pass the Pork" Palin or Senator "I Can't Impress Primary Voters With Facts, So I'll Fudge My Resume" Biden. I didn't imagine that McCain would make a pick half as bad as Obama, but he somehow managed. And yet I still think that Obama himself is less qualified to be Commander-in-Chief than McCain. Given McCain's age, however, I have serious worries about his running mate.

I guess my current attitude is "I'm not a Republican or Democrat....I'm just a Cynic".

Yeah, the value she seems to place is on MY family - anyone else's family can go screw - or better yet, she'll find a way to screw them herself. You're all fired!

SEVERUS

Peggy Noonan sez the Left wants Palin's scalp and will spare nothing to get it.

Didn't she also complain that Palin isn't the most qualified pick for the office? This was in that audio clip of her talking to her other conservative commentator when they thought their mics were turned off. It's on the internet, and it very well could be on TV by now. I don't have cable, so I don't know how much coverage her off-the-cuff comments are getting.

The NE gets it right early on some important stories. But the alien baby stories on the next page tend to detract from credibility.

:D:D:D

(Wait - did the "left" mud-sling those stories, too?)
