Fred Thompson gave a hell of a good speech!
Fred Thompson is extremely qualified!
He played a lawyer or something in a movie once.
Or was it a TV show?
he was also in die hard 2
I've flipped from CBS to NBC and back again with some frustration. When the networks were covering the dems....they only rarely took time away from the speeches and when they did, the broadcasters were all atwitter about the wonderful things they heard. On both these stations for the Republican convention, they're ignoring a lot of what is being said and instead, showing panels and special guests that are trying to rip and undercut what is being said on the convention floor. Blah...networks suck. Just let us listen to the activities and stay out of the way.
He was also a damn good Senator in REAL LIFE!![]()

Come to think of it, Fred Thompson served in the Senate longer than Obama has.
NICE!
"Yippie-kay-yay, motherfucker."
Famous line from that movie.

I started out watching ABC, and got way frustrated, so I switched to C-SPAN.
And yeah, I voted for Thompson in the primary, and I loved his speech tonight.
If McCain's will couldn't be bent by Hanoi Hilton, it surely can't be bent by the angry left... (or something to that effect).

I am getting tired of the notion that "experience" is the only or most important qualification for President. Presidential history is full of examples of experienced and unexperienced chief executives. Lincoln had no real experience in governing, yet he was able to guide the nation through the worst years of it's existence. Harry Truman wasn't well experienced and he took the oath of office basically ignorant of everything going on in the White House but still mangaged to be more than a care taker president. Jimmy Carter was a Governor, but was a pretty ineffective president. I think we need to consider other qualities in choosing a candidate such as integrity, moral courage, intelligence and common sense.
Ummmm.....
Wasn't that "W"'s line?

Who cares about experience?
If you always go for 'experience' as opposed to 'ability' (and, no, they are not the same thing), then (obviously) all that will happen is that the people who got into the Oval Office last time will keep getting in.
With both candidates, they each have the same Presidential experince (none) and even being a good Senator/diplomat/whatever doesn't necessarily translate into being a good President anyway.
The US has a very clear choice to make....all the rubbish about foreign diplomacy experience, budget/people management and all the other things don't really matter too much.
The choice is this:
Do you want the US to continue to be getting fucked up, internationally isolated and generally seen as the most warmongering nation since a certain Austrian got 'ideas above his station' during the 30's?
If you do, go ahead and vote for McCain (but when it bites you in the ass, don't complain and also accept some of the damn responsibility, because it will be YOUR fault it happened in the first place).
However....
If you don't want the above, then vote for the other guy.
It's....THAT....simple...
Jimmy Carter was a shitty governor and carried his expertise all the way to the White House.
You're busybody, aren't you? And by whose standards? *Snort* Yours?
