I always want to buy some books but I don't know what I'm looking for

Is there a book site where you can seach for books by pressing sliders or check marks for what kinda book you want?
Like more search options then just genres?

Just the fact that you can shrug your shoulders...

:p

Don't mind me. I'm just poking you.

I can shrug my shoulders, it's a gesture common among Americans every time they step into a voting booth and have to decide who to vote for, then once they choose, they slap themselves on the forehead because they picked the wrong one.

Amazon will make recommendations based on a history of items placed in your shopping cart. Sometimes their computer-generated recommendations are a bit literal, of course. ("'Hoppy the Frog" is recommended to you because you previously purchased 'Nixon' starring Anthony Hopkins."

You may also want to check out book cataloging sites such as Librarything, Goodreads, or Shelfari. A fellow Litster mentioned them in a different thread recently and it's become my latest addiction. Good luck.

It's a lot of fun. Look up a couple books you like, then click over to other people who liked those same books. You'll find a lot of book ideas on other peoples' lists. And they have partnered with Amazon for easy buying.
