In my opinion pornography is sex without imagination, sex handled in a mechanical and uncaring manner. Writers who could care less about the sexual material they're writing or who write out of hatred and negative motivations are pornographers.
Erotic writing is fun, an exploration of topics, a desire to titillate and thrill for the joy of it, as well as a desire to uncover more dimensions of human sexuality.
Writers with a variety of motivations have their work posted here.
I find this interesting. I believe that the only reason you dislike calling it "porn" is because that title has a sense of "wrong" and "taboo."
Were we all raised with the rigid belief that looking at Porn is a sin and therefore we feel "guilty" even now becase... well... we like it?
You make excellent points. To me porn is the expression of the negative side of sexuality, the motivation of a writer to hate, to debase. It wasn't too long ago that writing about gay sex was considered wrong, taboo & pornographic. Now gay sex per se is viewed by most as just another manifestation of human sexuality.
Porn is the motivation of the writer/artist. Literotica is simply open to stories. It's not free of pornography nor does it encourage it.
I was raised a Catholic and I understand well the geography of Hell, the broad plains of torment reserved for those who indulged in the sin of reading about sex, of looking at sexual imagery. Luckily I'm a Catholic no longer.
I resent that, and your previous post. I write porn, and there is no hatred in the stories I write about men and women and unicorns and Zoopians having sexual fun. I certainly don't hate or try to debase the people I write about.![]()
well... in that case!
Would you like to come "upstairs*" and view my "erotica"?

Sorry, obviously the word "porn" has great value for you.

It has been discussed with great seriousness, however this thread is not one of those.

Words, in themselves, have no value for me. Porn by any other name is still dirty stories. I enjoy writing them, and the certain amount of praise I receive for what I do. With a few exceptions, I write about the participants reveling in their sexuality, with nobody being hurt.
I call it porn, not erotica, because I don't consider it to be "Literature". I don't follow the supposed rules for writing "literature". I have no plot to speak of, no character development and no artistic value. I just write stroke.![]()
Yeah, who can discuss anything seriously with a talking penis, even one that reads?![]()
