....yet no one is posting.

We must all be here looking for something, and I have to believe it involves some form of communication or else we would have gone somewhere that doesn't promote interaction.

Come lay on my couch and tell me what's on your mind.

I'm sort of just trying to get my creative juices flowing here.

I'll tell you what I was scared of when I was a kid......I was scared of snakes and worms. My older sister was scared of dogs. The deal was that she had to protect me from the worms on the sidewalk after it rained and I would protect her from the ferocious dogs. I'm not sure what that says about our personalities.......

My biggest fear was my father.

I hope you outgrew your fear of worms. ;)

Why yes I have, thank you! I'm not even terrified of snakes anymore! You might think my fears very Freudian, but sometims a worm is just a worm.

What about you, any fears? If not, then what shocks you?

When I was little, and almost into my teens, I was afraid of the dark, especially when alone and/or outdoors. A traumatic accident at age 2 (I fell into a construction-site limepit and sustained massive third-degree burns on both hands -- they're functional but covered with scar tissue) had left me (so said the psychiatrists) with a persistent fear that something was out to get me.

Curiously, I never insisted in sleeping with a nightlight, that I recall.

How did you get over it? Mine was partially a need to be brave for my three sons, an experience with a snake in someone's hands that I trusted, and a dream.

Was your fear debilitating?

A fear of crowds.

Hate going to the shops when it is busy. I always sit with my back to the wall, and with a clear view of the doorway when I go out. The blinds on the windows are never quite shut, so that I can see if anyone is coming....

How long have you had the fear? What specifically is it that makes you afraid? Is it not knowing if someone is going to come up behind you, or is a fear of how you appear to them?

I guess I just outgrew it. Not exactly debilitating, but I hated it that my parents expected me to take out the trash after dark and it was picked up a bit down the road.

Why do parents do that! I'm sure I'm not completely aware of the things that bother my kids, but there are a couple of things from when I was a child that are like that.

When I was about 11 my older brother tried to get in my pants...literally. I told my mother about it and I'm sure he was chastised soundly, and nothing like that ever happened again, but my parents would still leave me alone with him at times, and I didn't even have a door on my bedroom! I used to lock myself in the bathroom the entire time they were gone.

You seem like a really cool guy, Your Highness.

Generally been all my life. I guess it is a case of being in the industry that I am in, and previously been in the forces.

It makes you look at everyone around you, makes you need to control the environment, and to ensure that the area is safe.

It is more pronounced when the kids are with me, and I not only have to keep an eye on them, but ensure that no-one else is eying them off...

Good night, all. I need to finish up my homework and head home.

Now there will be one less Litster viewing.

Childhood Fears

I was a bit afraid of whatever was in my closet at night. (I couldn't sleep unless the door was closed.) And concerned about an attack from dracula as well -- must have seen the movie sometimes.
