What I'm saying is that people who can't write properly are, thanks to the internet, being seen in public. Before someone would reject very poor writing, it wouldn't get printed. Now it does.

I agree that much more un-vetted writing is making public appearances, but my impression of declining skills isn't based just on what appears in public, but what I saw over 21 years of dealing with written reports at the first draft stage. (from a pool of people selected by above average standardized testing scores.) I started noticing the decline long before computers and the internet made public exposure available to the everyman.

A neurologist I enjoy reading wrote a book that totally sux. All of his previous books are well-written and a joy to read, but the book I read today is awful. The subject is fascinating, and the book contains many exciting ideas, but for whatever reason the writing is suddenly awful.

I have lurked on this forum for about a year now. JBJ's posts have always been inordinately rude and rather demeaning to the others on this board. Now granted, I don't have a degree in psychology, but I've heard that people who critique loudly about something usually fear inadequacy in the very thing they critique.

If you really want to tell everyone here they suck, put your own writing on the line (under an alt because I know people would probably bash you) and see if people like it. You could be a damn good writer, but if people don't like your shit, then you're really not.
