Can anyone give suggestions for BDSM themed movies? I really loved Secretary, and would like to see more like it. Preferably something with a decent plot, and not just a porno.

Thanks!

A few suggestions...

Try "The Lover" which is the movie adaptation of the autobiographical novel of the same name by Margurite Duras. It tells of her experiences as a 14 year old girl in Saigon in 1928 with a 39 year old wealthy Chinese man. 'Nuff said.
Also, for what they are worth, "Black Orchids," "Henry & June," one particular scene towards the end of "The Sheltering Sky," (which is also a good movie taken from a better book), and Ang Lee's recent "Lust, Caution" which is absolutely the best exposition of the power exchange of D/s I can think of.

Ah, memories...

Perhaps the Story of O though the movie isn't great, book is much better. Preaching To The Perverted is a fave of mine. Not a fan of The Secretary, but many are. These links might also help:

The Pet, I have not seen it but it looks the part.

If you see it let me know how it was.

NOOOOOOO it's terrible. Seriously. Absolutely nowhere near the same quality as Secretary. I would call it a C-movie or even a Z-movie. Allow me to pull a few quotes from old threads to demonstrate how bad it is.
wenchie's post about playing in the snow reminded me to warn everyone.

DO NOT SEE THE PET

IT IS AWFUL

YOU WILL WANT TO RIP OUT YOUR EYES AND BURN THEM FOR WATCHING IT

my friend bobby bought this movie 'cause we couldn't find it to rent anywhere. he was so excited to watch it, that he watched it without me! he kept calling me at work taunting me that he was going to watch it before i got off of my shift. and he did. then he called me to say it was the worst movie ever.

i asked how bad it was, and his adorable response was that it was so horrible it nearly turned him off bondage forever.

somehow, he is such a good person that he brought it over and watched it again with me. he kept groaning and turning over and hiding his head and whimpering things like 'god this movie is so horrible, why am i watching it again?" and truthfully? it WAS that horrible. and that poor man suffered through it again for me.

don't waste your hour and ten minutes watching this movie. don't let anyone you know buy it.

it's awful.
Bought the movie, wish I didn't, using said DVD as a coaster for the coffee cup.
actually, the whole thing is about people illegally trading women to sell their organs on the black market.

the 'pet' part, with the characters, is very minimal and 100% non sexual.

Oddity, the bottom of your coffee mug is too good for the dvd!
So I'm about 20 minutes into The Pet, and I just want to give a preliminary review.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha! *wipes tears from eyes*
Watched the Pet last night. You know how sometimes you have to willfully suspend your disbelief? As in, we know space and time travel isn't possible yet, so we ignore the fact that some of the Star Trek's take place in our times, in order to enjoy the movie. Before you pop this into the DVD player, take your disbelief out in the back yard and shoot the damn thing because you're never gonna get through this movie otherwise.

The story line was (for me) highly implausible, so they needed really great acting and direction to pull it off. They didn't have it. It didn't even work as an accidental comedy.

The good news is, the manager of the video place we rented from was cool enough to give me a free rental because this one sucked so bad.

Why oh why did I not listen to Chicklet?? As Bron said, the acting was so poor and the dialogue so laughable it was hopeless. I didn't make it through the whole thing, it was just too painful..and not in a good way!

What was with the 'master" saying the girl looked physically strong but he thought she was submissive? WTF??

Thankfully I also received Tristan and Isolde today..I am hoping it will erase The Pet from my brain.

Okay, Etoile's post made me go back and watch the rest of the movie. Awful acting and dialogue aside, I don't understand how or why they came up with the puppy training/organ source connection. I suppose understand the fitness training, wanting to make sure the organs are healthy, but why all the puppy stuff? Bizzare.

I did find the list of countries and their associated human trafficking activity (shown at the end of the film) interesting. I have no idea if it is accurate though.

Most amusing quote (paraphrased) "It's been a banner year for human trafficking and I want to thank all of you for your efforts" (the group then applaused) I can see a bunch of slave traders having a swanky cocktail party whilst discussing the market and profit margins.

I just sat though that movie... My eyes and heart are intact, but DAMN.....

The Good: The girl was hot, the cage was cool, and she played a good puppy.

The Bad: The Story, The Acting (the two girls who played the puppies did a good job of that, their acting as non-puppies was atrocious), The Premise, The Script

The Ugly: The movie was CRAP.

Fortunately, I did not pay for the movie, or I would want my money back. Hell, I Want the bandwidth back from my download of that movie.

The plot was a muddy mess, and despite the Writer/Director/anti-slavery crusader's assurance that it portrays the lifestyle in a positive light, IT DOESN'T. This doushebag did not have a fucking clue what this lifestyle is really about...

IT was very unintetionally funny at first, and then just got LAME.... (OK there were a couple of nice moments.)

I give this movie NO STARS, two thumbs down, and a general ITS CRAP as a rating.

Shit, they probably could have found better actors by going to Labor Ready there in LA.

Just to reiterate one more time.... The movie is a piece of shit, and the director should have all of his vital organs sold while he lives out life in an ice bathtub just for making this crap.

i'm not sure how anyone, even people out side of the lifestyle could 'like' this movie. if for no other reason than the fact that the acting SUCKED!!! 'my cat died' that was my favorite part of the movie that made me laugh really really hard.the movie was CRAP. the acting as puppies was ok, but give them a few lines to say and omg it sounded like they were reading it off cue cards, they probably were. i think people IN the lifestyle could have done a better job of acting. not to mention, she wore the same clothes throughout the WHOLE movie. and if someone is that rich, don't you think they could afford a better water bottle? lol the props were the same for both girls and they were in totally different places. yes i pick apart movies, but this one, well i don't have time to pick at everything that was wrong with it, i'd be here for days.

i'm not sure how much those 'actors' got paid but they didn't deserve a penny of it....

Considering that I didn't think the secretary was all that spectacular... just,

omg... i LOVE Secretary! i think my favorite part is the way she stays in the chair and frantically tries to keep it in the same spot. She just looks so cute and rediculous at that moment. i get really emotional when she pees too for some reason. Such a good movie.

Unfortunately I didn't see the plethora of comments against The Pet before I downloaded it. Just for fun, I'll add my own review to the list.

I barely got ten minutes in, but it was enough. What bothered me the most--more than the bad acting, dialogue, and plot--was the lighting. It looked exactly like an early '90s PBS kids show. I was half expecting a little dog or a ball of literate light to come on screen any moment. I'm sorry I wasted my bandwidth on it.

Yea, when she pees she is rather cute, or when she puts the teakettle to her thigh.

The lawyer guy was such a loser though. Just want to slap him and tell him to man up.

yes but was James Spader so was okay. i'm sure he grew into it.

Yeah.

For me it was the symbolism and enactment of commitment and selflessness. Her commitment to the guy and to her place in their relationship. Showing (actions speak louder than words) that she would do, literally, anything to be in that place in their relationship. And like the guy character in the movie, I found it totally endearing.

It was remarkable really, to me, the similarity to Siddhartha. Both he and she found a self they loved, and inner peace, through denial of self.

A lot of people don't like the movie. And I readily acknowledge that many parts are just downright cheesy. But in the end, I found a deep meaning/truth artistically expressed.

Quills about the last years of the Marquis de Sade in a lunatic assylum is pretty good but not very graphic. And Kate Winslet is in it which is an added bonus.

There is a black and white russian BDSM film I saw a few years back about a 18 girl in Pre revolution times whos photographer father dies and is given to her uncle who uses her as a BDSM model for kinky postcards.(that was on british chanel4!)but i cant remember the bloody name of it!

I thought Histoire d'O (the French movie adaptation of The Story of O) was pretty darn good. Though it did not follow the book perfectly, it was pretty close. And tastefully done, if a bit over dramatized in places.

Going Under - small indie, but out on DVD and netflix-able.
It's about a Dominatrix and her client in NYC going out-of-bounds professionally. Not a fast mover, but very sensual.

I watched The Pillow Book. It's a very...interesting artsy movie, but has nothing to do with BDSM. I didn't care for all the male nudity either.

I didn't like The Story of O, so I probably won't like the movie. And I don't care for femdom, unless of course it's lesbian.

I know, I'm too picky. Maybe I'll just wait for a review of The Image.

The image AKA the punishment of anne

was like a bad lit story. That’s really all I can say for it.

But there is the raising of the skirt in public, and a few other fun scenes. I wouldn’t pay for it though.

Quills is EXCELLENT.

Also there are a lot of movies are not necessarily BDSM films that have GREAT BDSMish scenes in them...Foxfire, which is an older Angelina Jolie film is one of them...

Bound is also very horny. Best lesbian fingerfucking scene outside of wank movies.
