I guess the history books will have to be re-written... again.

It was always an idiotic tale, twins suckled on a she-wolf... geepers, no one would have written that for Lit, but it turns out someone into animals in 13C Rome made the whole thing up! And then made a fake statue to confirm his fantasy. This is almost as bad as the faked lunar landing photo's and vid's - I know that corner of the moon... it's in Iceland.

So the Roman's never invaded England... it was just the bloody Vikings.

Everybody in Europe with a boat invaded England, most succeeded.

The legend didn't rely on the statue. It was known during the time of the Roman Republic. The statue might by 13th Century but the myth of Romulus and Remus was ancient and had its dubious origins centuries before Jesus Christ's birth.

Some ancient Roman historians didn't believe in our historical methodology. They considered it quite acceptable to write history as it should have been, to invent speeches and to invent events to emphasise a moral for current generations (and to flatter the Emperor). Oops! Some modern historians still do that.

Wrong. Julius Caesar invaded twicethen retreated. The Claudian invasion was successful. The Viking invasions ended in defeat and compromise. The last successful invasion of England was William the Conqueror in 1066. After that date all "invasions" were unsuccessful.

If you had said "Everybody in Europe invaded France..." that might have been more accurate.

In the Roma of the time, a 'she-wolf' was a prostitute.

As to the lunar landing, I worked with the guys who made the doppler radar that made the lunar module landing possible. They watched the live feed from JPL during the landing. It wasn't fake.

RR - sarcasm... get it? (psst... it's not a cave in Russia... that's czar chasm)

Don't take yourself so seriously, pal. By the way, 'doppler' has a capital 'D' after Christian Johann Doppler, mathematician.

Yes, the statue's a good deal more contemporary, but the myth does go waaaaaaay back. The Lupercal, rediscovered last year, was a monument to this myth and the Lupercalia celebrated this for a long time.

LOL

I thought I smelled another addict...

Now, if you could just stop spewing the great treasure everywhere! I just cleaned off my computer screen from the last time!

Recently discovered on Lit: The Lubercal, a long forgotten and sacred orgy cavern. We'll be having the Lubercunnilingia celebration later this month ;)

I imagined Lubercal to be the German equivalent of KY jelly
