Good morning living room!!! Have you been reading about the fires in California? Per AOL, the number is up to 800 ! There are fires to the north and south of us. Since Sunday, smoke and haze has filled the skies around here. The smoky smell lessened a little bit yesterday afternoon, although it was very, very dirty air still. Then the wind must have shifted or another fire started, because the smoky smell came back last night. I had to shut all the windows instead of letting the cool night air in.

I feel so bad for anyone who has been affected and lost a home or been evacuated. I'm hoping they can get these fires under control soon, and our clean air will return. On to happier things:

{{{hugs!}}} Working hard today Cgirl? I hope you can be around later on, like 1:00 your time! Boss will be leaving the office for the day (unless something dramatically changes - which I sure hope it doesn't!)

You're not kidding. I've definitely scaled back my summer plans. We won't be flying anywhere anytime soon, nor driving very far from home either. I'm investing in lots of sunscreen, a large floppy hat and soft beach towels -- and we'll be by the pool or at the beach for our summer week-end vacays!

I do feel badly for those in Cali, and also all the people in the Midwest affected by the flooding. It's so sad when people lose all they own and are displaced that way.

Been busy this morning. Am hopping on for a few right now, but will return when I get home

We might go camping, and that's probably about it this year. I hope to take a vacation next summer, so am saving my pennies for that! lol

I remember when I lived in vegas a few years ago there was some really bad cali fires and you could smell the smoke walking outside in vegas. The sky was hazy and those fires were hundreds of miles away.. it gets crazy!

I remember when I lived in vegas a few years ago there was some really bad cali fires and you could smell the smoke walking outside in vegas. The sky was hazy and those fires were hundreds of miles away.. it gets crazy!

and I've heard you can see the smoke from the space station, or something like that.

I am so tired, and having to force myself to do some homework....

i didn't forget anything jane, but hate those mornings too...when i worked ( had to be there at 5 in the morning) i just got up, dressed and left...i even showered at night because didn't want to do anything more than absolutely necessary in the morning, but now, get up, shower, review my homework, if have time i edit some...all while drinking my coffee and watching the today show...so this morning was very disappointing, very little coffee and all rushed

seth, if you are going to rework the story, i think you should take it down and resubmit as a new story, just put somewhere at the top that you reworked it, that way it will show up on the 'new' list and everything starts over...but that means you lose your views and votes and comments...your choice

the fires sound horrible and what's worse is that when the fires are over and the rainy season comes, there won't be grass/trees to hold in the soil and you'll have a bad mudslide season...that's just terrible

well i'm going to re write and extend it and re submit it. it's my worst story grammatically.. got the names mixed up and everything! lol
that was before I knew the virtues of proof reading and editing! lol

My eyes have been watery and I feel a bit nauseous when I go outside, from the smoke. I can only imagine what the people who live closer are going through!

It is going fine, but I'm having to do real work and lots of it! LOL. My boss is a great guy, but he's also a conscientious one - so that means he's here first thing in the morning, and he sticks around til noon, then he only takes an hour for lunch. Fer fucks sake! LOL

But he's gone all the rest of today, so I'm going to take advantage while I can.

I don't mind the work - but I miss hanging out with all of you and fitting in some writing time during the day

you put EDITED in after the title of your story. not sure if you have to request deletion of your old one or not.
