Poly + LDR = our crazy whirlwind

That's correct for the basic fried bologna sandwich.

Here's the advanced version: Put it on toast and then drop on a slice of American cheese or add the cheese to the fried bologna in the bread and prep it like a grilled cheese sammich.

Chardonnay works well but any soft wine will do.

I must be a basic kind of woman.

I've never had your version but it sounds pretty delish. American cheese, right? Not a sliver of Velveeta? :D

(oh...I drank milk with my sammy. Wine came for dessert. No oreos though.)

If I may steer this thread just a tad back on topic, but still having to do with food...

I had the pleasure of seeing this crazy whirlwind of a relationship up close and personal when I met Homburg, viv, mis and family for lunch very recently while travelling to their area. The love shared between them all is very clear and honestly, quite beautiful. It was truly great to meet them and enjoy some east coast seafood, too.

Thank you for the opportunity to meet you. I hope we can do it again.

(and on the subject of velveeta, cheese whiz, fried bologna and cheese steaks--thats what I grew up on :) That and TastyKakes, never Twinkies)

It was awesome to meet you too, ES. Hopefully you'll get a chance to swing by this way again soon!

And thank you for your comments

There must be something about bad culinary taste and powerful empire.

This almost sounds as bad as what the british could come up with.

Ew.

Because I am determined, apparently, to keep the topic off course...and because you brought up TastyKakes.... reminds me of Krispy Kreme donuts.

I do remember the "Hot Donuts Now" sign before it became trendy. Krispy Kreme donuts..... were our after-church donuts when I was growing up.. I can't eat them anywhere else (at least within eye-view of a church.)

Weird. I know.

But give me one of their original donuts and I am in heaven. (ha ha...yeah...don't point it out, OK?)
Serious.

Not to keep the thread off topic but ... I love Philly Cheese Steak (not sure what the cheese was) !!!

Now for a good panino receipy from my college days try this:
ciabatta bread, grilled eggplants, Speak (smoked raw ham), brie cheese and a dash of extra virgin olive oil, the whole assambled thing grilled in a toaster/grill.

That sounds really, seriously tasty. Damn.

That sounds phenomenal, though it will probably cost about 50 dollars to make here. Is Speak like Sopresata or something else?

I have jealousy of this soiree, I just wanted to say that and not JUST hijack.

It was cool. ES is good people, the restaurant is one of our favourites (for the view first, and food second), and we had a good time.

Netz, you're officially welcome to join us the next time we get together. Please consider the invitation extended.

It is different: soppressata is a type of salami, while Speck (didn't even spell it right the first time, lol! ) is a type of smoked ham typical of Sudtirol, the German speaking part of north Italy.

I honestly cannot remember how much it used to cost in the old Lira days, but for sure less than 10USD

Now that you said it, I feel better for being envious as well ... and of both ES & the Homburg-sama trio as I wish to meet all of them (and you :rose: ... and other as well ...)

Met her dad. Wow, the comedy of errors getting to that point....

Still, he's a great guy, and I actually like him as a person. Seems like he liked me too. It's a start.

Excellent! As he sees that you and viv are good for mis the trust will build. Dads are as protective of their daughters as great PYLs are prrotective of their pyls. :)

That's huge.

Yep, and I'm pleased with it. The biggest thing, and this is something that MIS predicted, is that our respective senses of humour are eminently compatible.

--

On other news, everyone is sick. I'm sick, viv's kinda sick, the kids are sick or just getting over it, and MIS is really sick. My folks got the kids last weekend, and my dad had some sort of stomach flu. He gave it to the kids, and the kids gave it to us. Thanks, dad.

told ya so

Looks like I'll be meeting her mom too. *blink*

Apparently she's nervous that I won't like her. It's like those nature shows when they tell you that the ferocious predator is more scared of you than you are of it. To be frank, the way the worry was expressed makes me like her mom already.

My life is a nougat of creamy awesome surrounded by dark chocolate weird.

mmmmmm .... I like the way your life sounds ;)

And glad to read her Dad liked you, Homburg-sama! Cannot see why her Mom shouldn't. Afterall you are a big good guy that is going to take good care of their little daughter, what's not to like?

Hugs to all 3 of you :rose:

Well, I could name off a list of things not to like. I'm sure more than a few people here could too :D

*hugs* to you, rida-chan!

And we're really starting to hit the "don't want to leave" phase.

I hate this part. :(
