Did you know it is illegal to be homosexual in the Bahamas? Recently, a few gay deaths have led to some protesting, albeit not many because once you protest, uh, they know you're gay. Anyhow...an interesting site to go to is www.bahamasissues.com . Check out their few pages on homosexuality, on recent murders, etc. ;)

A good place to start reading is "Political issues"...;)
And you may ask me or yourself...why is she suggesting I go to a site about the Bahamas if she and I are/may be American or other?
Gay is gay, and I believe in knowing the most I can. Supporting who I can. dats why!

I hear Jamaica is just as bad (don't know about the specific laws though.)

The Bahamas is nothing compared to Jamaica. Jamaica is an absolute hell-hole. I absolutely refuse to take a cruise that includes Jamaica on the itinerary. I think I started a thread about Jamaica a while back.

Do you have the link for that thread...
or can you explain more?
Homophobic or just not a nice place to visit? Bahamians say that Jamaica makes all the tourist moola.

A common link to all bigotry is ignorance. This follows true almost across the board. The more uneducated a population, the more likely they will fall into religious/social fanaticism and not have the mental ability to free themselves from opinions and points of view passed down through the generations. This is why places such as the rural south in America, the rural Islamic nations and other such places are such fertile ground for all types of bigotry. Ignorant people are afraid of anyone different than themselves and their own group. Only way to change it is through education - and that takes a lot of money, effort and time.
