Aphrodisiacs are a part of every culture's folklore. In Canada, there are the Malpeque oysters, in Mexico there's the avacado, in China, ginger for example. What are the aphrodisiacs in your country?

Bremelonitide seems to have been shot down by the FDA because of concerns over what it can do to blood pressure. Last I heard, flibanserin was still in Stage III trials so there is yet hope . . .

Learnt from a voodoo priestess about aphrodisiacs.....sandalwood oil (for olfactory use).
Interesting. Tell more, lesbiaphrodite. Which country does it come from and what are the specific aphrodisiatic qualities of Sandalwood??

Sandalwood trees have been cultivated since antiquity for their yellowish heartwood, and the aromatic oil obtained from the tree and roots. This semi parasitic tree burrows its roots into other trees and is slow growing, usually taking about 30 years for the heartwood to mature enough to extract the oil. Sandalwood trees are found throughout tropical Asia and South Pacific islands. The wood of the sandalwood tree has been used to build many ancient temples and is used.

Sandalwood the Aphrodisiac

In the 4000 years of recorded accounts of Sandalwood, its aphrodisiac properties are regularly noted. Sandalwood has a sensual, oriental scent, which is both pungent and musty and is used extensively in expensive perfumes and toiletries. Sandalwood produces something similar to androsterone, a male hormone secreted in the armpits as a sexual signal.

Another reason for the popularity of Sandalwood as an aphrodisiac is its universal appeal to men and women alike being neither too feminine nor too masculine. From experience, however, we note that men will bypass other soap scents and stock up on the sandalwood soap, while women comprise only 30% of our sandalwood sales leading to the conclusion that men may favor sandalwood even more than women. Sandalwood's deep, woody and exotic scent blends with bergamot, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, lavender, lemon, myrrh, neroli, rose and ylang ylang.

Fascinating and thank you. What's the country of origin for this aphrodisiac? You say Asia and the South Pacific. Is there a specific trace?

As a side note, wasn't chocolate actually introduced to the world by Hispanics? Not sure if it twas Mexicans or Spaniards.

The Aztecs. They drank chocolate daily, although it wasn't the sweetened stuff we're used to at all.

TELL MORE, Cloudy.

From The History of Chocolate:

During his conquest of Mexico, Cortez found the Aztec Indians using cocoa beans in the preparation of the royal drink of the realm, "chocolatl", meaning warm liquid. In 1519, Emperor Montezuma, who reportedly drank 50 or more portions daily, served chocolatl to his Spanish guests in great golden goblets, treating it like a food for the gods.

For all its regal importance, however, Montezuma's chocolatl was very bitter, and the Spaniards did not find it to their taste. To make the concoction more agreeable to Europeans, Cortez and his countrymen conceived of the idea of sweetening it with cane sugar.

While they took chocolatl back to Spain, the idea found favor and the drink underwent several more changes with newly discovered spices, such as cinnamon and vanilla. Ultimately, someone decided the drink would taste better if served hot.

The new drink won friends, especially among the Spanish aristocracy. Spain wisely proceeded to plant cocoa in its overseas colonies, which gave birth to a very profitable business. Remarkably enough, the Spanish succeeded in keeping the art of the cocoa industry a secret from the rest of Europe for nearly a hundred years.

Saffron

I am making a saffron risotto tonight. Saffron is an aphrodisiac because the taste is absolutely unique and the price per gram, like awesome pot, is expensive. All aphrodisiacs have in common one thing: People can't quite pinpoint the feel in their mouth or the taste on their palate, and all aphrodisiacs are, if nothing else, as mysterious as the pussy. :D

Well then, Charly, you need a book Intercourses Hopkins and Lockridge. It's beautifully photographed (and hot!) and the recipes are out of this world. Do they work? Who cares!

Whenever I want to spice things up witha lover, I follow the advice given to me by my Ghanian ex. He said that the women in his country serve their men chili when they want them to get a little hot and bothered.

I've also read that ginger has a similar effect.

Booze. Were simple folks here.

Not to mention that there aren't much women in the north, so the men there don't need any more aphrodisiac than opportunity.

And considering that we live in a country where it's winter half the year, and everyone bundle up to the point where you can't tell if the person is male or female, the sunshine is a pretty good aphrodisiac too. All of a sudden there are half-naked people in the streets, and who doesn't get a heads up from that?
